The Irishman revealed in December that he was battling an “aggressive” form of prostate and bladder cancer, which spread to his spine and pelvis and was diagnosed earlier in 2024.

Eddie loved rock and roll music, and he played the drums. He was in a band called V10 until 2007.

Michael, who was good pals with Eddie, took to Instagram this morning to dedicate a post to the late sports star.

The Riverdance star shared some sweet throwback snaps of himself and Eddie jamming on stage together.

The celebrity choreographer captioned his post: “God rest your soul dear Eddie.

“Legend, brother, best friend, rockstar! You lived your life fearlessly. Love you forever.

“See you on the other side.”

Michael’s friends and fans loved the sweet tribute and flooded the comment section with condolences.

Nicola said: “Thinking of you, Michael. We had so much fun together… can someone be TOO much fun?!?! We will miss him so much.”

Maureen wrote: “So sorry to hear this news Michael.”

Valerie commented: “Oh bless him. Sending my love and prayers to you.”

Many more tributes flooded in for the F1 icon from across the world.

Ralf Schumacher, who raced under Jordan and is the brother of seven-time champion Michael, said: “We had a great time in Cape Town.

“Your love for music and the many live performances are unforgettable.

LEGEND LOST

“I can hardly believe that you have lost the battle against the disease.

“Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to start my F1 career in your team.

“I will always be grateful to you for that. I wish the whole family a lot of strength in these hours.

“I already miss you my dear friend. Rest in peace.”

Jake Humphrey, who presented BBC coverage with Jordan and David Coulthard, described being “utterly devastated”.

He posted on X: “Utterly devastated. EJ has left us.

“Formula One won’t see the likes of Eddie ever again where a guy with a love for racing can hustle his way into the sport and end up winning races.

“More important than race wins though, we won hearts. I will never forget how his face would light up whenever he saw a Jordan GP jacket, flag or cap… as we travelled the world together years after the team had been sold.”
