ARSENAL are closing in on superstar striker Viktor Gyokeres with the Swedish international desperate to exit former club Sporting.
In fact, he was so keen to leave that he reportedly broke up with his girlfriend Ines Aguiar because he had ‘already decided’ he wouldn’t be in Portugal next year.

On July 2, 2025, reports emerged that Viktor Gyokeres dumped his model girlfriend with the aim of ‘severing all ties’ with Portugal.
Having scored 97 goals in just two seasons, the 27-year-old Sporting superstar was highly sought after.
Gyokeres was very eager to move to the Premier League, with Manchester United also interested in Arsenal‘s top target.
However, Sporting’s bosses were refusing to let him leave for less than £70million.
Gyokeres was left infuriated by their demands, insisting he had a gentleman’s agreement to be allowed to depart for a lower price.
He even refused to return for Sporting’s pre-season in a bid to force through his exit, which is still to be confirmed.
And Gyokeres took his desire to leave to even more extreme measures — according to reports, he broke up with his Portuguese girlfriend Ines Aguiar in an effort to make a clean break.
Speculation about the split started when she did not accompany Gyokeres to teammate Morten Hjulmand‘s wedding to Ines’ friend Emilie Sofie Nissen.
Gyokeres then flew to Mykonos for a holiday by himself.
A source told Portuguese newspaper Corrieo Da Manha: “Viktor doesn’t want anything that ties him to Portugal, especially because he has already decided that he will not continue at Sporting next season.
“Before going on holiday, he spoke to Ines and explained what he felt.
“She was also prepared in a certain way, although it was something that was difficult for her because she liked him a lot.”
Whether these actions helped force through the move remains to be seen, but the Gunners agreed a £63.5million deal to sign Gyokeres on July 14, 2025.

Ex-Brighton flop Gyokeres swapped Coventry for Lisbon in 2023 when he completed a club-record £16million transfer.
The actress and model started dating Gyokeres at the start of 2024 before the couple went public several months later.
Gyokeres and Ines kept their relationship under wraps initially, but were spotted together at an airport in April of that year, when the footballer allegedly came to pick her up.
However, she officially broke their cover on the famous night in November when she posted a video on her Instagram story to her followers of her man firing home his spot-kick in the Champions League.
And within a few months, he had seemingly found love.
The brunette, who is two months younger than Gyokeres, has a twin sister named Joana who’s also a screen star.
As of July 15, 2025, Neither Ines nor Gyokeres have made any public statements about the breakup.
