‘What’d he shoot?’ – NBA megastar’s visit to Kerry golf course causes stir among Irish basketball fans

NBA superstar Steph Curry posed for photos at a Kerry golf course after completing a round with his basketball royalty family.

The Golden State Warriors point guard is a frequent visitor to Irish shores as he’s previously swapped jerseys with Johnny Sexton.

He’s clearly grown fond of all that Ireland has to offer as an off-season destination – in particular its many links courses.

Recapping his visit to their club, Waterville posted on Instagram: “A very warm welcome to NBA legends Steph Curry, Seth Curry, their father Dell Curry, and fellow NBA star Damion Lee to Waterville Golf Links.

“It was an honour to host such incredible talent from the basketball world – we hope you enjoyed your day on the links!”

The presence of the best shooter in basketball history on the course made for ripe comic material in the comments section.

Jeff jokingly asked: “What’d he shoot?!” Meanwhile Mark laughed at the California-based ace having to wrap in less than ideal conditions.

He added: “Looks like a typical Waterville day!” Finally, another bowled over follower summarised: “The best at the best!!!!”

Curry’s off-season has been in effect since the Warriors were eliminated from the NBA play-offs in the Western Conference semi-finals last month.

The post-season as a whole only came to a dramatic close on Sunday night.

For the first time since the Warriors’ epic 2016 match-up with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, this year’s Finals went all the way to a decisive game seven.

Unfortunately for the Cinderella story Indiana Pacers though, their magical play-off run ended in the most cruel of fashion as talisman Tyrese Haliburton tore his Achilles early in the first quarter.

This allowed series favourites Oklahoma City Thunder to win on the night by 103-91.

In doing so, the franchise claimed its NBA championship since moving to Oklahoma having previously been based in Seattle when they were known as the SuperSonics.
