The multi-million-pound scheme, which was approved by councillors, hopes to ease visitor pressures in the area.
Located in Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons), Waterfall Country is unsurprisingly known for its stunning waterfalls, scenery and countryside landscapes.
Visitors flock to the area in the summer causing traffic and parking problems in the area, with lines of cars seen covering roads and pavements in recent years.
Under the plans, a new 125-space car park will be built in a bid to ease congestion.
In addition to the improved parking spaces, a new children’s play park will also be installed as well as a shop and a coffee kiosk.
Overnight accommodation featuring roughly eight bedrooms will also be installed, the BBC reports.
Several existing buildings, such as a toilet block and a farm track, will be knocked down.
It is not yet known when construction work will take place, or when the new attractions will be open to the public.
The area has been praised by visitors, with one person writing on TripAdvisor: “It’s nothing short of breathtaking”.
Another person added: “A series of spectacular waterfalls, there is such variety of scenery in this area from forests and mountains to moorland and steep rocky valleys”.
Bannau Brycheiniog is one of Wales’ three gorgeous national parks.
The Bannau has four distinct areas, from west to east: Black Mountain, Fforest Fawr, Brecon Beacons, and the Black Mountains.
In addition to Waterfall Country, there’s plenty to keep Brits entertained, such as Pen Y Fan – the highest peak in southern Britain.
The national park is also an International Dark Sky Reserve, meaning it’s a great spot for stargazing.
For the best views of the night sky head to the National Park Visitor Centre or remote areas of the national park.
It’s also home to the largest natural lake in South Wales, Llangorse Lake.
There are several ancient castles in Bannau Brycheiniog, including Carreg Cennen Castle and Tretower Court and Castle.
Elsewhere in the UK, the British Museum is set to benefit from a £1billion face-lift, which will see its entrances renovated, areas revamped and new interactive galleries installed.
And Wiltshire Museum is also getting a £1million revamp to restore the Devizes Assize Court attraction, which has been derelict since the 1980s.
Three other waterfalls to visit in the UK
THERE are several other hidden waterfalls that can be found throughout the UK, including Batman Falls, Hardraw Force and Canonteign Falls
Batman Falls
Film buffs might not know it, but a piece of Hollywood history can be found in a deep gorge in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. The falls are known as “Batman’s Waterfall” after they featured in Christopher Nolan’s hit film The Dark Knight Rises. Henrhyd Falls is where people can find the caped crusader’s hidden cave.
Hardraw Force
Gayle Beck is found near the confluence of the River Ure and gushes through the streets of Hawes, a tiny market town in the Yorkshire Dales. It leads to Hardraw Force, one of the most visited spots in the area and one of the country’s biggest waterfalls. Tumbling more than 100ft, the falls are located behind the Green Dragon Inn, a tavern that has been in its current location since the 13th century.
Canonteign Falls
Canonteign Falls has been named a hidden gem by local travel expert, Alex Gwillim, from Sweetcombe Cottage Holidays. Despite its name, Canonteign Falls is a set of two waterfalls, Natural Falls and Lady Exmouth Falls. Lady Exmouth Falls was commissioned by Lady Susan, who was the wife of the third Lord Exmouth. The aristocrats wanted to build the waterfall to help keep the miners in work following the end of the mining boom in the 1880s.
Meanwhile, these UK locations have all featured in Disney movies.
And you can watch thousands of films for free in this little-known UK attraction.
