We built a ‘garden room’ onto our home for £300 using a cheap IKEA buy & there’s a plant that makes it smell AMAZING

A COUPLE who were fed up with their plain garden have revealed how they created a jaw-dropping ‘extra room’ using a cheap Ikea buy.

Sarah, who runs the @hearts_at_claremont account, showed how she picked up a £300 pergola to instantly transform the space into a “sanctuary.”

Sarah shared: “We loved our garden room in our old house, and I really wanted to create something similar in our new garden.

“So, with a pergola from IKEA and some help from my lovely dad, I was able to transform this space quickly and easily.”

She claimed the lightweight frame was easy to put together, but it was slightly tricky putting the canopy on top.

What she thought would be a five minute job, actually took “a lot longer.”

However, once they had achieved it, it was “really easy to open and close.”

Sarah said her dad drilled the frame down as it was a little wobbly, and put some brackets on to make it more stable in the wind.

Next it was time to add some items under the pergola, and she used garden furniture she already had to save cash, including some chairs and a table, and put some fairylights up.

To make it look pretty, she added a gorgeous climbing Jasmine plant which not only looked “gorgeous”, but also has an “amazing scent.”

The creative homeowner said: “I then added lots of pots and plants, soften the look at the pergola and make it look like it’s always been there. I added rugs, soft furnishings, cushions, and candles.

“I’m so happy with how this project has turned out. Our comfy, cosy little summer sanctuary.”

Sarah’s video has racked up over 216,000 views and clearly impressed internet users.

One said: “It looks so nice! Love that jasmine plant too.”

Another added: “Who knew IKEA sold pergola! Thanks for this it looks stunning.”

And a third commented: “Looks amazing.”
