“Vince is legitimately having a surgery done”: The Truth Behind Brock Lesnar Inflicting ‘Real Injury’ on Vince McMahon After Getting Fired from WWE

Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest and most feared names in the world of professional wrestling. The Beast Incarnate has carved a highly accomplished career in the combat sports world, winning multiple championships and accolades to cement his legacy.

Furthermore, Lesnar is also known to inflict damage on any man who stands across from him. Some prime examples have been Randy Orton, who was busted open by Brock during their SummerSlam match, and when Lesnar manhandled John Cena and took him to Suplex City. These instances have been a small display of his raw power and strength.

McMahon legitimately suffered an injury, with many believing it to have been caused by Lesnar. However, years after McMahon was let go from WWE, the truth regarding the incident came to light.

On a 2013 episode of Monday Night RAW, Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar’s former advocate, Paul Heyman, were involved in an in-ring segment. McMahon accused Heyman and his then-client, WWE Champion CM Punk, of using The Shield’s help to protect Punk’s title reign.

As the conversation escalated, Vince McMahon was about to deliver his famous words, ‘You’re Fired’ to Paul Heyman. However, he was interrupted by the arrival of Brock Lesnar. The Beast got into the ring and stared down at McMahon, who did not flinch. Suddenly, Lesnar picked up McMahon and planted him with a devastating F-5.

At that moment, it seemed that Brock Lesnar legitimately hurt Vince McMahon. The belief became even stronger after Vince underwent hip surgery right after the attack. However, years later, it was clarified that Lesnar was not the one to have injured Vince McMahon.

In a statement by Wrestling Observer‘s Dave Meltzer, it was stated that Vince McMahon had already been dealing with a bad hip for a while before his segment with Brock Lesnar. The angle was done to write off Vince McMahon from WWE television to undergo surgery and recuperate.

Vince McMahon is legitimately having surgery done on his left hip soon. Vince has had a bad hip for some time now. The storyline injury from Brock Lesnar was done as a reason to take off for the surgery.

Vince McMahon returned to WWE television a few months later on crutches. During a match against Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar once again came down to attack him. However, this time, he was saved by his son-in-law, Triple H, whose arm was broken by Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam 2012.

As of 2025, Vince McMahon is no longer associated with WWE. He was let go by WWE’s parent company, TKO, after allegations by Janel Grant regarding s*x trafficking and s*xual misconduct became public. Brock Lesnar was also rumored to be a part of the entire situation.

This led to Lesnar being off WWE television since his match against Cody Rhodes at the 2023 SummerSlam PLE. Moreover, Brock Lesnar’s WWE return has now become even more difficult after his name officially came up in the amended lawsuit following a year of rumors.

While Janel Grant has sued Vince McMahon and former WWE EVP John Laurinitus, she has not pressed any charges against Lesnar. So it remains to be seen if Lesnar would ever get clearance from the legal situation to make his comeback to WWE.
