University of Fort Hare (UFH) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for two exciting Postdoctoral Research Fellowship opportunities available in the Faculties of Social Science and Humanities and Management and Commerce at its East London and Alice campuses.

Fellowship Commencement Date: 1 September 2025
Fellowship Value: R300,000 per annum (paid in four instalments)
Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable based on performance and publication output
Postdoctoral Fellowship: Social Work (Social Sciences and Humanities)
Location: East London Campus
Faculty: Social Science and Humanities
Focus Areas:
- Child protection
- Vulnerable children
- Early childhood development
- Social work education
Eligibility Criteria:
- PhD in Social Work (completed within the last 5 years)
- Evidence of research publications in relevant areas
- Strong foundation in qualitative research methodology
- South African citizens preferred
- Ability to produce at least 2 DHET-accredited units during the fellowship
- Willingness to relocate to East London Campus
Postdoctoral Fellowship: Entrepreneurship and Marketing (Management and Commerce)
Location: Eastern Cape
Faculty: Management and Commerce
Department: Business Innovations and Entrepreneurship
Focus Areas:
- Entrepreneurship
- Micro entrepreneurship
- Small business development
- Marketing
- Microfinance
Eligibility Criteria:
- PhD in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Management, or related disciplines (obtained within the last 3 years)
- Open to South African citizens, permanent residents, and international applicants
- Preference will be given to female South African applicants
- Proven track record of research publications in accredited journals
- Required to produce a minimum of 2 Units per year in DHET-accredited journals
- Contribute to postgraduate research and thematic studies on governance and inequality
