UK’s best value attractions revealed – with lesser-known theme park and most popular castle crowned the winners

FAMILY fun, adventure and let’s face it, value for money, is what we all want out of a day trip.

New research has now revealed where you will find the best value attractions in the UK with Flamingo Land Resort in Yorkshire leading the way.

Flamingo Land Resort is the attraction where you can make your money go the furthest out of any others in the UK.

Research by hotel chain, Premier Inn, has revealed the the top 10 UK attractions that offer the best experience per pound.

To find out which ones are really worth a visit, the research took a closer look at the entry fees and average time spent across 300 global landmarks.

In the UK, Flamingo Land Resort came in at number one for the most value for money.

The entry fee to the theme park and zoo is priced at £17.95.

But with most visitors spending six hours there, the cost works out as £2.99 per hour – which is worth it we’d say.

It’s not the first time Flamingo Land has received high praise, in 2022, their new ride Sik was named ‘Best New Attraction’.

The huge ride proved very popular with visitors, one said: “Sik is in my top 5 rides ever ridden”. And another added: “Worth visiting to try out SIK which has to be one of the best/scariest in the UK.”

Sik is the biggest rollercoaster in Flamingo Land where riders go up to 108 feet, it has a maximum speed of 85 km/h and a 25-metre loop.

Flamingo land has 52 rides in total including 10 rollercoasters total, there’s also a zoo which previously won the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation.

Around the resort are various zones like Dino-Stone Park[/caption]

In the resort there’s also different themed zones like Peter Rabbit Adventure, Children’s Planet play area, Dino-Stone Park, Pirates of Zanzibar and the Splish Splosh splash park.

In the UK the other top days out that proved good value for money included Warwick Castle.

This came in second with the entry fee costing £22, but with the average time spent there up to six hours, cost per hour was as little as £3.67.

Third was Drayton Manor Resort in Staffordshire averaging a cost per hour of £4.15

And joint fourth were three theme park legends, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Legoland Windsor which all came in at a cost of £4.83 per hour.

The research also stretched to world-wide attractions where The Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires averages out at 22p per hour.

But it’s even cheaper when you realise on average people only spend half an hour in there and the entrance fee is 11p.

Drayton Manor Resort opened a world first rollercoaster last summer as part of its wild-west themed land, Frontier Falls.

And Legoland is launching its biggest Lego festival with building classes and dance zones this summer.

Sun Travel Had A Day Out At Warwick Castle

Travel Reporter Hope Brotheron on her adventure to Warwick Castle…

Already widely regarded as one of the best castles in the UK, Warwick Castle is home to a dizzying array of attractions from live jousting tournaments, a Horrible Histories Maze and its Peacock Garden

One of my personal favourites has to be the Wars of the Roses, which is filled with jaw-dropping stunts, ambitious pyro-techniques to boot and a sprinkle of history. Get there early to grab a seat in the stands.

Another stand-out show has to be the Falconer’s Quest where birds of prey like falcons, owls and eagles swoop over the crowd. It was both terrifying and amazing when a huge black condor flew just centimetres above my head.

You can learn about the history of the castle in its Great Hall and up your step count by climbing up the tower ramparts where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views over Warwickshire.

Rest from your medieval quest at the newly-opened Warwick Castle Hotel, where history, literature, myths and legends all seamlessly collide to create a fun-filled family-friendly overnight stay.

Kids both big and little will be delighted by the huge animatronic knight on horseback and talking photo frames that sit in the lobby. It’s Arthurian folklore with a touch of Harry Potter thrown in for good measure.

While the rooms are decorated with medieval motifs, they’re modern in every other way with huge comfy beds, a desk area with a vanity mirror, USB and USB-C charging points next to the plug sockets, a tea and coffee station and a wall-mounted telly.
