Ubisoft in January of last year attempted to revive a franchise that everybody had given up hopes for. While Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown did not turn out to be as big of a blockbuster as some hoped for, it definitely brought a fresh perspective for gamers to look at the franchise with.

The game was unfortunately overshadowed by bigger releases at the time, including Tekken 8 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, a year after The Lost Crown’s initial release, the studio has just announced how the game will be making its way over to the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog this month.
Ubisoft and the desperate need to bring up Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s player count

Ubisoft has not been doing well for itself in recent times. The big pile of issues for the studios includes countless delays for its next Assassin’s Creed title, the failure of XDefiant, being threatened by their own shareholders, and much more.
Nonetheless, the company can do nothing and keep trying to fight and find a way back to the glory it once used to hold, and that includes enticing gamers to come back to their once favorite franchises. To follow through with this, the company has announced that the Metroidvania-style action adventure will be added to PlayStation Plus Extra’s list of games being added in March.
For users of the service, the new addition of titles also includes other games such as EA Sports’ UFC 5, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, Arcade Paradise, and more.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown: The underdog game of 2024

Ubisoft’s gamble with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was a massive departure from its traditional Prince of Persia formula, opting for a Metroidvania approach rather than what the earlier installments in the franchise followed. The studio desperately needs exposure right now, and with millions of subscribers on the PlayStation Plus, the game will now have a much broader audience.
Back during its launch, unfortunately, despite positive reviews, the game failed to find a place for itself in the market at the time, getting dominated by other major releases. The company is now using Sony’s subscription model to make an attempt to deliver Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown the glory it always deserved.
If all goes well, then we might even get to see more Ubisoft titles make their way onto the PlayStation Plus catalog, marking a huge win-win situation for both the gamers and the studio.
