There is some good news for Steam Deck owners and Assassin’s Creed fans. Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be releasing on the Steam Deck at launch, making it the first Assassin’s Creed game to ever do so.

However, there are still some complications that need to be figured out, and Ubisoft is currently awaiting classification from Valve since the game is demanding and Steam Deck, at the end of the day, is just a portable console with some hardware limitations.
Steam Deck might have some problems running Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a demanding game that will need strong hardware backing to run smoothly. It is still not confirmed whether the game is optimized enough to run on a portable console like Steam Deck or not.
However, since Ubisoft has announced that the game will be coming to the handheld console at launch, it might have thought it through and come up with ways to integrate the game with the Steam Deck.
Valve is yet to respond on the matter, and even Ubisoft is awaiting classification from it. If all goes well, then this will be the start of a new chapter for Assassin’s Creed games. Fans are eager for this collaboration to materialize.
Many of you have been asking about Steam Deck. We are happy to say that we are supporting Steam Deck at launch and are currently awaiting the level of classification from Valve. More info to come soon.

If Ubisoft and Valve somehow manage to optimize the game to run smoothly on a handheld console at launch, then it will truly be a breakthrough and pave the way for a lot of other games to do the same.
Valve is yet to confirm this collaboration

Valve has not openly said anything about this collaboration as of now. Ubisoft is eagerly waiting for a response. More information will be released soon, and we will get a clear picture in due time.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has managed to build a lot of anticipation, and there is a lot of expectation riding on its back. It is the first Assassin’s Creed game to be set in feudal Japan.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also be available to play on Mac OS, though it is highly unlikely that a Macbook Air will be able to run such a massive game without any fans. This indicates that Ubisoft does not want to leave any platform behind. Do you think this game will be able to run on the Steam Deck? Let us know in the comments below.
