Two men hospitalised after shooting and violent disorder incident in Offaly as gardai appeal for information

TWO men have been hospitalised following incidents of violent disorder and a firearm was shot – as gardai appeal for information.

Gardai were alerted to a public disturbance at Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore, Co. Offaly last night around 9.50pm.

Shortly after, cops responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in Kilcruttin.

Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were taken to St. James’s Hospital, Dublin for treatment of serious injuries.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

Gardai confirmed that no other injuries were reported and no one has been arrested.

The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following incidents of violent disorder and the discharge of a firearm in Tullamore, Co. Offaly last night, Friday 21st March 2025.

“At approximately 9:50pm, Gardai were alerted to a public disturbance at Midlands Regional Hospital.

“A short time later, Gardai with assistance from the Divisional Armed Support Unit responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in Kilcruttin.

“Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were conveyed from the scene and have since been transferred to St. James’s Hospital, Dublin for treatment of serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening at this time. No other injuries were reported.

“The scene is currently preserved for examination by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.


“No arrests have been made at this time.”

Gardai are appealing to the public for information or anyone with camera footage who was in the area. 

They said: “Investigating Gardai are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to these incidents to contact them.

“Any road users who were in the Midlands Regional Hospital and Kilcruttin areas of Tullamore between 9:30pm and 10:30pm and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam footage) are asked to make this available to Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
