Tom Selleck was surrounded by love on his 80th birthday after celebrating at a restaurant with his closest confidants. The Blue Bloods actor was seen exiting a Thousand Oaks, California, eatery with his wife, Jillie Mack, on Wednesday, January 29.
During the outing, Tom, 80, sported a brown coat with a brown button-down shirt, jeans and brown hiking shoes in photos obtained by Daily Mail. Jillie, 67, wore a striped dress with a brown coat as she held her husband’s hand while exiting the venue. According to the outlet, they ate at Tuscany il Ristorante for Tom’s birthday, a rustic Italian eatery.
Joining the pair at dinner was their daughter, Hannah Selleck, as well as several other friends and family members who all looked so happy to see Tom. Tom was seen hugging everyone before heading out. He carried what appeared to be a gift box in his hand, while Jillie carried a gift bag in her hand.
Tom sported longer hair and a beard, a different look than what Blue Bloods fans were so used to seeing on their screens every Friday night. The TV icon hinted at his birthday plans in a December 2024 interview with Parade.
“I’m trying not to count. I stopped celebrating birthdays a while back,” he said of aging. “I intend to keep working. I’ll probably have dinner with maybe my brother and my sister and Jillie, just go out to dinner, kind of be quiet and not make a big deal of it.”
Prior to the big birthday outing, Tom was spotted getting some food at a McDonald’s drive-thru. The Magnum, P.I. alum has largely been spending his time in California after ending Blue Bloods in December 2024.
Tom admitted that it would take some “getting used to” not having to travel to New York City to film Blue Bloods anymore. And of course not seeing his longtime colleagues every day has been a big adjustment.
“The hardest part for me is we had the Blue Bloods family and we had the actors’ family,” he said. “They’re all my pals. I miss them.”
For folks hoping to seen the Reagan family reunite on their screens in a Blue Bloods spinoff any time soon, nothing has officially been announced regarding continuing the franchise. However, Tom insisted he was open to ideas on how to continue Frank Reagan’s story in a way that holds true to Blue Bloods’ core values.
“I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but nobody’s really asked,” he said when asked about his interest in a spinoff.
Tom made it clear that he did not think it was an interesting spinoff idea to see Frank retire.
“I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere,” the Emmy winner explained. “If he goes off to a small town, I’d rather do more Jesse Stone movies.”
For now, Tom’s seemingly open to whatever opportunities come his way.
“I would love to do another comedy,” he said. “The right kind of comedy. Friends made people laugh and cry at times. That’s the kind of comedy I enjoy doing. Three Men and a Baby had that, too.”
