Tom Cruise is all smiles flying a helicopter onto the set of his new film after star’s injury stopped filming

TOM Cruise flashed a beaming smile as he landed his helicopter onto the set of his new movie.

The Top Gun actor grinned as he expertly landed the black chopper after a day of re-shoots at Longcross Film Studios in Surrey.

Tom, 62, donned stylish sunglasses and a skin-fit grey jumper paired with blue jeans as he wrapped the new movie scenes.

As he jumped out of the chopper, he held a dark jacket in his hand and struck a more serious look as he headed inside.

The Mission Impossible icon will no doubt be relieved to be back in action after The Sun exclusively revealed how a horror injury had hampered filming.

The incident at Pinewood Studios, Bucks, put an unnamed cast member in hospital with injuries to his pelvis and leg.

The blockbuster move – with the working title Judy — sees Tom play a megalomaniac who is the most powerful man in the world and tries to save humanity.

John Goodman, Jesse Plemons and Riz Ahmed also appear.

An insider earlier this month told The Sun it had has echoes of when Cruise broke his ankle performing a rooftop jump stunt — halting filming on Mission Impossible: Fallout in 2018.

The source added: “The actor is renowned for loving spectacular stunts which obviously involve some element of danger and the risk of injury – though they always strive to keep any risk to an absolute minimum.

“This incident won’t just be alarming in terms of having someone so famous suffer such a major injury, it will also prove costly on a project which has cost millions and is on a very tight schedule.”

For the movie — due to be released in October 2026 — Cruise has teamed up with Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu.

He won Best Director Oscars in consecutive years for Birdman and The Revenant.

It was also hoped that Judy, which has been filming for almost two months, would be a contender for some Academy Award nods.

Last year, Tom sparked concern in a small UK town after filming death-defying flight stunts in the sky.

Tom who is infamous for doing all his own stunts, was filmed by a fan carrying out his stunt and flying over houses in Bicester.

Despite the impressive stunts, one person took to social media to issue a playful “complaint.”

They wrote: “So now I know who to complain to about flying low over my property!!! I demand an in person apology with flowers and a tux.”

Others commented on the path the planes seemed to be taking around the area, as someone penned: “Saw the biplane and helicopter going back and forth this morning over Arncott.”
