Here are all the details about Hope, her ties to Paul and what we can expect from her in season two of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Miranda Hope Is a Single Mom of Two
Hope is a mom to a son, Brooks, born in 2020, and a daughter, Cohen, born in October 2021, with ex-husband Chase McWhorter.
Hope and McWhorter married in 2017 after a year of dating. They revealed in a 2022 YouTube Q&A that they met after Hope graduated high school and McWhorter, who is two years her senior, had just returned home from an LDS mission.
Hope & Ex-Husband Chase McWhorter Were Involved in MomTok’s Swinging Scandal
In 2022, Hope and McWhorter were implicated in a swinging scandal involving several Utah influencers. The details came to light when Paul revealed that she and her ex-husband, Tate Paul, were separating after participating in “soft swinging” with other couples.
Paul said their split came after she broke the rules of their arrangement by hooking up with another husband in the group, who she later confirmed was Brayden Rowley. Paul also claimed she and a different man in the group ended up “catching feelings” for one another who she later confirmed to be McWhorter but more on that below.
Though Hope and McWhorter initially denied being involved in the swinging group, McWhorter confirmed that they did participate in a September 2024 interview with Us Weekly, clarifying that it happened during drunken party games. “It was never predetermined that we were going to be doing, like, swinging,” he said.
“This is all people that have just grown up Mormon and really, in a lot of ways, not ever dabbled in some of the stuff that you’d probably just get through and experience in college or high school. But I don’t really ever think anyone thought, ‘We’re gonna eventually, like, switch and then have sex with that person,’” he said.
Hope & McWhorter Divorced in 2023
After months of speculation, Hope confirmed that she and McWhorter had split in an August 2024 TikTok.
While speaking to Us Weekly, McWhorter said there were multiple factors that led to their split. “I think we both realized that we’d gotten married a little prematurely, and that’s why our relationship still is pretty, good [now], like, we’re really cordial, really friendly,” he said. “[I] still chat with her a lot, whenever she drops the kids off, and vice versa. … I think it’s working out really well, and we’re kind of figuring out how to continue navigating that in a positive way.”
Hope & Taylor Frankie Paul Used To Be Close Friends
Prior to the swinging group falling apart, Hope and Paul regularly appeared in each other’s TikTok videos.
During a September 2024 appearance on The Viall Files, Paul said that the husband of her “best friend,” confessed his feelings for her before she later cheated with Rowley. Then, in January, Paul posted screenshots of text allegedly sent by Hope’s ex-husband saying he had a “secret” and “need to chat sometime tho if possible.” Paul captioned the post, “He’s lucky he kept the actual confession in person.”
Now that Paul and Hope are both starring in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, we’re expecting to see more drama from the fallout of their friendship.
