There has been no update regarding Elder Scrolls 6 for a very long time now, and the game is still shrouded in mystery. Bethesda has not disclosed its plans for the game as of now, and there seem to be no plans of doing so in the near future as well.

However, this long haul is not something that concerns Nate Purkeypile, who was once an integral part of Bethesda’s team as a lead artist and has worked on games like Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield. He fears immense backlash from people on the internet and potential harassment of Bethesda employees.
Purkeypile fears that the worst lies ahead of Elder Scrolls 6

The long wait ever since the first teaser released of Elder Scrolls 6 has raised the expectations of fans, which might not be such a great thing for Bethesda since delivering to people’s expectations does not always work in the favor of the studio.
The gaming community can be ruthless and shred a game to pieces, just minutes after launch or even before the launch sometimes. Purkeypile fears something similar with Elder Scrolls 6 if it in any way fails to meet players’ expectations. Bethesda did recently come out of the shadows and engaged players in a fun competition.
Bethesda has faced such backlashes in the past, some of which even Purkeypile was a part of; he is well aware of the dark side of the internet that has the potential to demoralize entire studios. During a talk with GDC, as reported by GamesRadar+, he said:
Putting out Fallout 76 was a tough thing, the internet can be really awful. Fallout 76 was by no means a game that deserved tons of praise at launch, but some bad apples online took things too far and began to harass Bethesda workers directly.
The internet has given a voice to many opinions, which is a good thing; however, it can also sometimes be a creator’s worst nightmare since they might start fearing putting things out for people. Negative comments on any creative pursuit can demoralize people. People want to see a lot of evolved features from Skyrim in Elder Scrolls 6.
Purkeypile’s sure people will find faults with Elder Scrolls 6

Purkeypile is now an observer of all things Bethesda does, from a distance. He is also quite sure that even if Elder Scrolls 6 turns out to be a great game, there will still be people who will be ready to put up negative comments and analyses of the game.
He talked about how people would still be making hour-long videos about how the game could be better and what the things that are lacking are. The long wait, especially, will not help Bethesda’s case. He said:
Even if The Elder Scrolls 6 is great, I’m sure there’s gonna be these hour-long YouTube videos, and death threats yet again. If you put out a game that people don’t like, the internet is going to treat you like you’re clubbing baby seals.
People are still waiting for further updates on Elder Scrolls 6 since it has been more than 6 years since the teaser was released. What do you feel about this? Let us know in the comments below.
