Season 4 Episode 22, The One With the Worst Best Man Ever, follows Ross’ struggles of choosing his best man between Joey and Chandler while Rachel and Monica plan to throw a baby shower for pregnant Pheobe amid her constant mood swings.
The episode starts with Ross, portrayed by David Schwimmer, showing up at Joey and Chandler’s apartment with his wedding ring, which he gives to Chandler, whom he has picked as his best man, much to Joey’s disappointment.
After some back-and-forth about who gets to be whose best man, Ross changes his mind and selects Joey, who enthusiastically embraces the role. However, chaos ensues when Joey loses the wedding ring after Ross’s bachelor party.
Believing that the stripper at the bachelor party has taken the ring with her, the trio calls back the stripper to Chandler’s office to inquire about the ring, which was actually swallowed by Joey and Chandler’s pet duck.
When the stripper shows up at Chandler’s office, Ross desperately asks her, “Where is my ring, my dead grandmother’s ring? Where is it, where is it?” while frantically gesturing at his fingers to indicate the missing ring.
Chandler (Matthew Perry) responds with his trademark sarcasm, “Way to be cool man,” but the real comedic highlight comes from Joey. Joey, who was standing up front to confront the stripper, is suddenly seen ducking behind Ross covering his face with his hands, trying and failing to suppress his laughter.

As fans reflected on the scene in Reddit discussions, some pointed out how LeBlanc’s unscripted reaction wasn’t visible during the show’s original 4:3 broadcast but was revealed in the 16:9 widescreen format introduced with streaming releases.
