Destiny 2 is a game about loot. Sweet, sweet loot. Guardians spend countless hours grinding through strikes, raids, and PvP matches, all in pursuit of that perfect roll. But here’s the problem, half the time, that loot is just another weapon you’ve seen a dozen times before, with a name that sounds like Bungie’s word generator had an off day.
Remember when earning weapons felt meaningful? When the effort you put in actually mattered? That’s exactly what The Black Armory brought to the table. It wasn’t about random drops, it was about crafting your arsenal with care, precision, and a bit of fiery chaos.

And then, poof! It was gone. Like a Titan using Shoulder Charge off a cliff, The Black Armory vanished into Destiny’s content vault, leaving players wondering if we’d ever see its glory again. Bungie keeps drip-feeding us weapons from that era, but that’s not enough, we want the whole package back.
The Black Armory, Destiny’s greatest lost treasure

Once upon a time, Destiny 2 players had the pleasure of forging their own weapons in the fiery depths of The Black Armory. It was a place where Guardians didn’t just stumble upon loot, they earned it, crafted it, and wielded it with pride. Unlike the endless RNG loot pools of today, The Black Armory weapons felt personal, like an extension of the Guardian who forged them.
ADA-1, the enigmatic curator of the Armory, introduced us to the forges, where we battled waves of enemies to craft some of the most iconic weapons in the game. Blast Furnace? Absolute legend. Hammerhead? Who didn’t love that thing? Jötunn? Okay, that one was a menace, but in a fun way.
But then, Bungie, in its infinite wisdom, decided that The Black Armory needed to take a nap. Not a short nap. Not a power nap. A full-on, out-cold, deep hibernation from which it never woke up. The forges were sunset, the weapons lost to time, and ADA-1 was repurposed into, well… a glorified fashion consultant. No disrespect to transmog, but let’s be real, Guardians care way more about firepower than fabric choices.
Banshee-44 should take over The Black Armory

Let’s talk about our guy, Banshee-44. He’s the Tower’s gunsmith, which should make him one of the most valuable NPCs in Destiny 2. After all, what do Guardians love more than shooting things? Getting better things to shoot them with.
But instead of being useful, Banshee-44 just sits behind his counter, handing out random rolls of guns we’ll immediately dismantle for weapon parts. His main contribution to the game? Forgetting things. That’s it. The guy’s got more memory wipes than a hard drive from 1998.
So, here’s the plan, let’s give Banshee-44 a real purpose. Bungie can take him out of his weapon vendor purgatory and turn him into the new curator of The Black Armory. He already loves guns, probably even more than Guardians do, and with ADA-1 fully committed to playing Destiny’s version of a tailor, there’s an opening for a new gunsmith extraordinaire.
Imagine it, instead of shuffling through random Engram drops, Guardians could craft weapons again, forging them like in the good old days. And with Banshee-44 running the show, it’d be even more fun. Picture him trying to explain how a new frame works, only to immediately forget what he was saying mid-sentence.
Bungie needs to make this happen. Not only would it revitalize Banshee-44 as a character, but it would also bring back one of Destiny 2’s most beloved systems. Give us The Black Armory, let us craft some legendary weapons, and let Banshee-44 forget that he even gave them to us in the first place. Everyone wins.
