IRELAND is a “nation of home cooks” according to new research revealing the country’s appetite for cooking fresh.
But the research, commissioned by Lidl, found that almost half of Irish households are held back from cooking by a lack of time.

Meanwhile, a third of the households revealed they suffer from meal planning fatigue and find thinking of new recipes every day to be “too challenging”.
It also pointed out how many Irish adults believe there are too many gadgets involved in the cooking preparation while a handful said they don’t have the right kitchen equipment.
But Lidl Ireland launched has launched their own innovative, premium and versatile all-in-one cooking appliance based on their finding.
It is designed to simplify home cooking and provide an affordable alternative on the market.
And it’s the first time an Irish retailer has launched their own innovative product.
Lidl’s own-brand Silvercrest Monsieur Cuisine Smart is an established household appliance across Europe, with over two million units sold.
The multi-functional kitchen product is designed to replace dozens of kitchen gadgets in one complete appliance.
It features 11 methods, which are weighing, mixing, steaming, stirring, kneading, chopping, cooking, searing, emulsifying, pureeing, and sous vide.
The Monsieur Cuisine comes with an 8-inch coloured touchscreen display and video-guided cooking for step-by-step recipe guides.
And it comes with app connectivity for voice-controlled remote operation, a self-cleaning function and over 600 pre-programmed recipes.
It also included three accessories: lid, tray and steaming vessel, lid with opening and measuring cup, 4.5L basket and mix container, a stirring insert, blade, and spatula with a removable silicone tip.
LAUNCHING IN IRELAND IN WEEKS
With 85 per cent of the Irish public saying they would be interested in purchasing an all-in-one cooking solution, Lidl’s new Silvercrest Monsieur Cuisine Smart retails at €499.99.
And it’s a dupe of the popular Thermonix TM6, which currently retails at a whopping €1,499, making the real deal a whopping €1,000 more.
Lidl Ireland’s dupe contains all the features from the original except the peeler, slicing, grating, rice cooker and boiling.
The innovative product is set to hit stores nationwide from Thursday, April 3, but customers can try a demo of the product at the pop-up event in Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin this Saturday.
A pop-up event will also be at the Cornmarket in Cork on Saturday, March 22.
It will be held from 10am to 6pm, allowing customers time to try the machine while learning some cooking tips from Gina Daly.
‘TRANSFORMED MEALTIMES AT HOME’
Speaking at the launch, Gina Daly, TV chef and Lidl Ireland brand ambassador, said: “What’s really encouraging from this research is that while nearly half of Irish adults cook from scratch every day, 56 per cent of Irish adults want to spend more time in the kitchen and prioritise making fresh, home-cooked meals over convenience foods which is so important for good nutrition and a balanced diet.
“Cooking from scratch is also something so many of us love to do but, as the research shows, it’s not always easy to find the time and coming up with new recipes that the family will all enjoy can be exhausting.
“The Monsieur Cuisine Smart takes the hassle out of home cooking by combining multiple functions in one simple-to-use appliance. Since switching from my usual trusted appliances like my slow cooker, it has transformed mealtimes at home – and saved hugely on kitchen space.
“What I love about it is how user-friendly it is – I can browse recipes, meal plan, create shopping lists and know I’m making exactly the right amount of food needed, reducing food waste.
“The helpful voice control functionality and video instructions take all the stress out of cooking – it’s really become my sous-chef in the kitchen!
“Whether you’re a confident home cook or just starting out, this device makes it easier than ever to prepare fresh, delicious meals for you and your family.”
