Robert Kirkman brought an epic finale to Invincible Season 3

Naturally, the ratings were bound to be good and Omni-Man became the go-to sigma guy. However, the main star of the show was his son Invincible (voiced by Steven Yeun) and the story quickly moved forward.

With Season 3 airing recently, the finale of the third season was released which brought an epic finale moment between Conquest: a battle-hardened Viltrumite, and Mark Grayson.

Fans loved the battle and many comparisons were drawn between inspirations, scenes from the first season of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible, and some other discussions. However, Kirkman confirmed one thing during an interview.

Robert Kirkman had a goal while making the series finale

The final scene between Conquest and Invincible was compared to the Chicago battle from season 1 of the animated series by the thousands of fans that saw the show.

During an interview with Variety, series creator Robert Kirkman confirmed that that was indeed one of the goals that they were trying to achieve while making the iconic battle sequence during Season 3 of Invincible.

That was definitely a goal. We call it the Monaco sequence, where Conquest rakes Mark across the beach and city. It was supposed to be an advancement of the subway sequence.

He further continued,

The Monaco sequence was a way to pay homage to the Nolan fight. With the back-to-back episodes of the Invincible War and Conquest, we wanted to give the audience a sense of, ‘Here’s what you could get from this show moving forward. You didn’t expect this, did you?’ Just trying to try to up the stakes as much as we can.

Well, it indeed worked out in the favor of Robert Kirkman and the entire team behind Invincible as the show’s epic finale was much praised and received critical acclaim from fans.

With the series finale aired, Invincible currently stands at a rating of 8.7/10 on IMDb and an equally high of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes. The iconic show is available to stream on Prime Video.
