The government has unveiled a comprehensive plan to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions through strategic industry partnerships and increased investment.
Speaking at the grand durbar of Bolgatanga Technical University’s 25th anniversary celebration, Deputy Education Minister Dr. Clement Apaak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping students with practical skills that align with industry demands.
Reading a statement on behalf of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, he emphasized that the government will collaborate closely with industries to improve the quality and impact of technical education.
This initiative will upgrade technical university facilities with modern laboratories, workshops, and classrooms that meet international standards.
The government will also focus on enhancing instructor capacity by providing training and capacity-building programs to improve teaching methodologies and research output. Strengthening industry-academia linkages will be a key priority, ensuring that universities partner with industries to offer students hands-on experience.
Digital and technological integration will be expanded, with increased access to digital learning platforms and ICT training to boost innovation.
Additionally, scholarship opportunities will be increased, particularly for students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs.
To further support students, the government will encourage entrepreneurship and innovation by providing financial assistance, incubation centers, and mentorship programs to help graduates transition into self-employment.
