Marvel Rivals has been out for months now, giving players enough time to learn the ins and outs of the hero-shooter. Despite that, many in the community still haven’t been able to find their ground in the game’s Ranked mode, as they believe there are a number of flaws within it.

One particular aspect that frustrates Marvel Rivals players is the lack of team-play. NetEase Gamers often criticize the game for failing to promote the very basic idea of a team-based hero shooter and push developer NetEase Games to learn from Overwatch 2. However, even the Blizzard game isn’t free from this problem and is in fact, in a much worse state.
Overwatch 2‘s troubles with Competitive mode
Just like any competitive game, Overwatch 2 has a unique ranking system. It’s a system designed for the most dedicated players out there who want to test their skills and abilities against the best in the world. Over the years, Blizzard has constantly updated the mode with new changes and additions.
While Competitive mode in Overwatch 2 is the best place to challenge yourself, climbing it can prove to be a nightmare. Players have to deal with leavers, AFK players, and those who easily tilt after things go south. However, the worst of all is the lack of teamwork in the mode, which defeats the entire purpose of the game.
It’s genuinely mind blowing the amount of comp games that end up looking like this. Someone make it make sense.

It’s the lack of coordination and teamwork among players that leads to a situation like the one in the Reddit thread above. If players don’t properly communicate, it can lead to situations where some overextend, fail to achieve objectives, and ignore key targets, which can lead to pointless deaths and a lack of enemy elimination.
Poor teamwork is the major reason why gamers often get frustrated in Competitive play. It reduces the morale and performance of players, and as it gets worse, the toxicity rises, leading to a blame game within the team.
Over the years, Blizzard has tried introducing a number of features to promote teamwork in the hero-shooter. These include things such as role queues, ping systems, and even endorsements. However, the developer’s efforts have failed, and gamers believe that Overwatch 2‘s Competitive system is beyond saving.
Archives mode won’t return to Overwatch 2

It’s not just the Competitive players who are disappointed with Overwatch 2; even the PvE enthusiasts have lost all hope. Back in 2017, Blizzard introduced Overwatch Archives, a yearly event that brought unique PvE missions that told stories from the game’s history.
However, all the Overwatch Archives events and their PvE game modes still haven’t made a return to Overwatch 2. Many completionists haven’t been able to earn all the achievements linked with the Overwatch Achieves challenges, and they have been frustrated.
Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Overwatch Achieves will ever make a return in the sequel. While chatting with content creator Emongg, game director Aaron Keller inquired about these missions. Keller revealed that due to new tools and a refactored code base in Overwatch 2, all the original missions “broke.”
According to him, Blizzard would have to remake all Overwatch Archives missions to bring them back to the sequel, and the studio isn’t sure if it’s worth all the hurdles.
With that said, how do you think Blizzard can improve team work in Overwatch 2? Let us know in the comments below.
