Solo Leveling: Who Kills Sung Jin Woo?

We know Sung Jin Woo as one of the most overpowered characters in anime history, with almost no chance of dying. In his own verse, he is one of the strongest beings alive, and very few can even dream to match his powers.

However, Jin Woo did come close to death multiple times when he had to battle against opponents far stronger than him, at least at that point in time. Not only that, he really died 2 of these times, but the plot armor and fate were there to help the lone leveler.

He not only came back to life every time, but Jin Woo arrived stronger than before, ready to destroy his enemies.

Jin Woo’s first death started everything in Solo Leveling

Jin Woo’s story actually starts from the moment he died in his first life. As an E-ranked hunter surviving at the bottom of the barrel, Jin Woo knew he could not achieve much success as a hunter.

He had no talent for combat and only went for dungeon hunting because he had to support his mother and sister. But when he came across the double dungeon, he never really thought he would become a sacrifice at the altar for the monsters.

This was just the beginning for him, and as he lay dying, the system gifts him the option to become a player. Jin Woo, like every other human, wanted to survive at any cost, and chose to become a player of the system.

That day Jin Woo, the human not only died but also got revived as a potential vessel for Ashborn. This entire plan of luring in hunters was orchestrated by The Architect, who had been looking for people who could become Ashborn’s vessel, and Jin Woo fit the requirements.

This death changed everything for Jin Woo and started his journey as a hunter who could level up. It had a tremendous effect on his life, which definitely helped him become more powerful than anyone else, but also started to strip him of his humanity.

A second death at the hands of the Monarchs

When the Monarchs started to target all the Rulers’ vessels, they never imagined Jin Woo could become such a threat to them. Even Sillad had to let other Monarchs know about the Shadow Monarch’s human vessel and warn them about him.

Sillad understood that no one other than Antares could even come close to the Shadow Monarch’s power. That’s why, he sought the help of Rakan and Querehsha to get rid of Jin Woo once and for all.

Thus, we witnessed a huge battle that started between the 3 Monarchs and Jin Woo right on the streets of Seoul. Here, after a fierce fight, Sillad and Rakan managed to mortally wound Jin Woo and truly kill him.

However, that is when Jin Woo gets another chance to live because his black heart starts to beat again. The time comes when the Shadow Monarch can truly descend within Jin Woo.

To make the transition happen properly, Il Hwan, Jin Woo’s father, also comes to Jin Woo’s rescue. And once Jin Woo returns from the dead with the true powers of the Shadow Monarch, he practically becomes unbeatable.

Even though Jin Woo never truly died, he came very close to losing his life entirely. But, the system managed to intervene and help in his evolution without ever giving him the option to die.
