Shark Tank, as a concept, brings a lot of opportunities for startups in some of the best ways possible. Providing exposure to the world while simultaneously helping businesses get investments from some of the most recognized people in the field, there is a reason why the series has helped many achieve their dreams.

There have been many excellent ideas across the several seasons of the series. At the same time, some ideas just sound better in theory. Due to this, many businesses have come on the show and not gotten the investment they needed. That is what happened with the Blowzee.
However, the judges had quite an interesting interaction during this product’s pitch.
The roast of the Shark Tank judges
In the thirteenth episode of the thirteenth season (via YouTube), Mark Lareau and Mark Apelt went on Shark Tank to pitch their product to the judges. Much like many others showing up in the series, the pair spotted a problem and came up with a unique solution for it. Putting emphasis on the act of blowing candles on a birthday cake, they mentioned how unhygienic it can be.

With this in mind, they created a product that turns blown air into energy that powers a fan to blow out the candles. For their demonstration, they brought some very blue cakes and asked the judges to try their product themselves.
You’re blue Mark. You’re turning blue. You look like an idiot.
In the middle of this, the judges ended up asking Lareau and Apelt if they could have the cake. What ensued then was most of the judges having their mouths dyed blue from the cake. Since Kevin O’Leary did not have the cake, he got to point this out and make fun of his co-stars.
The Sharks did not like the product
While the interaction between the judges was hilarious, the actual product did not seem to perform very well with the Sharks. It did function the way that it was supposed to and undoubtedly kept the germs off the cake. However, the main concern that the Sharks had was about the sales numbers and how many people would actually buy the product.

Mark Lareau and Mark Apelt revealed that they had made $12,000 selling 1200 units in the span of five months. The numbers weren’t very impressive to the judges, who pointed out that they needed to be selling a lot more than that to make more money.
While Mark Cuban was a lot nicer and pointed out that everyone has to start somewhere, Kevin O’Leary directly stated that he did not like the product in the slightest. The judges also pointed out that the product would only be used on special occasions by specific people who had the same problem that Lareau and Apelt did.

With this in mind, none of the judges ended up investing in the product, while some did offer words of encouragement. According to Food Republic, the Blowzee is no longer being sold, with their site having shut down.
