Television has managed to consistently disappoint in the past few years with its less than impressive, repetitive, and at best, mundane shows. One of the most innovative and simultaneously brilliant shows, however, to come out in recent memory is Apple TV’s Severance.

The series not only redefines science fiction but also elevates Apple TV’s status among streamers by a mile. Severance sets itself apart from the rest of the contemporary television shows by adopting a storyline that is as bizarre as it is fascinating in all its twisted and unsettling complexity.
As Season 2 now unfolds, the fans are left with more questions than answers at the end of every week, but it wouldn’t be Severance without some brain rot fan theories to explain the events of each progressively confusing episode.
Severance Season 2 gets increasingly complicated

One of the most explosive plot twists of Severance was the revelation of Ms Casey/Gemma’s identity. In a moment that no one saw coming, it was finally revealed that Ms Casey was in fact Mark’s wife, Gemma, who was believed to be dead – the catalyst that led to Mark being severed in the first place.
However, the brilliant Ben Stiller series hardly lets its audience settle and catch a breath before dropping one bombshell after another in each consecutive episode, including the “Outie” identity of Helly R. being the Eagan heiress and one of the loudest proponents of severance.
The references to Mark S.’s work on the Cold Harbor file is yet another major question mark that looms over the fans as they make their way through Season 2. One of the most widely accepted fan theories about Cold Harbor is strongly rooted in the file’s connection to Gemma. But an eagle-eyed fan has now deciphered that it’s not Ms Casey but Helly R. who is the subject of the Cold Harbor project.
Severance Season 2 fan theory unravels Cold Harbor

While it may be easy to follow the breadcrumbs laid down over the expanse of Season 2 and connect the Cold Harbor file to Gemma, another fan theory now emerges with proof and explanation about the project being linked to Helly R. Despite Gemma’s face being reflected in association with the file, a fan has noticed how the file numbers on the screen reflect Helly’s severance chip ID.
Considering Lumon’s mysterious dealings with cloning and immortality, it may very well be possible that Mark is tasked with refining Gemma. However, with the factual proofs that the fan theory posits, Cold Harbor may very well be about Helly being exposed to the testing floor and the possibility of death.
The fan theory on Reddit states:

While there are still a number of questions left unanswered in Severance, the Apple TV series is far from exposing all its secrets to the audience. And while simply finding out the answers to all of the mysteries might be an attractive option, it is far more entertaining to sift through the bizarre fan theories associated with every microscopic detail of the series.
Severance Season 2 is now streaming on Apple TV+.
