Sadie Sink has had Marvel fans scratching their heads for quite some time now. Initially being fan-cast in the role of Jean Grey for the X-Men, the announcement of her being cast in Spider-Man 4 has blindsided fans in the most confusing ways possible.
The actress has very beautiful red hair, forcing audiences to question who she could be playing since the opinions are quite limited in Spider-Man’s story. Amid so much speculation, Sink has finally addressed the news and given a response to who she could be playing.
However, there is another character who is better suited for the actress and would be perfect for the film.
Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man 4?
When one thinks of a red-haired character in a Spider-Man film, the first name that pops up is Mary Jane Watson. She is one of the most important parts of Peter Parker’s story and stands as his consistent love interest. However, MJ Watson has already made her way into Tom Holland’s Spider-Man film, being Michelle Jones instead of Mary Jane.
With how much love fans have for Zendaya’s character, it would not be fair for the series to get another love interest with a similar name and importance in Peter’s story. With this, many other names have been brought up in the conversation surrounding who Sadie Sink could be playing.
Interestingly enough, Sink ended up commenting on the conversation, making her first acknowledgment of the news. Since the news dropped, names like MJ Watson, Gwen Stacy, and Jean Grey have frequently been thrown around by fans. In the middle of this, one fan joked that the actress was actually going to play the character of Uncle Ben.
The joke seemed to have landed very well with Sink, as she ended up posting it on her Instagram (via ScreenRant), giving her first reaction to the news.
Sadie Sink would be perfect for another Spider-Man love interest
While Sadie Sink would undoubtedly ace the role of Uncle Ben in Spider-Man 4, there is quite a big pool of characters that she could play. Spider-Man has had many love interests over the years, many of whom have red hair. Additionally, the actress could also dye her hair and fit into any role she wanted.
With this, there is one character that could also be added to the mix. In 1981, the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends introduced a new character named Angelica “Angel” Jones. Also known as Firestar, she is a mutant with fire abilities, predominantly present in the X-Men part of Marvel. At the same time, she was also first introduced as a love interest for Peter Parker.
The past three Spider-Man franchises have stuck to similar love interests for Peter’s character. Bringing a new character in for Tom Holland’s fourth film would be experimental in the best way possible. Additionally, Angel could also act as the first live-action love interest for Peter Parker, who has superpowers.
Not only would this help in creating an interesting dynamic, but it could also work excellently as a street-level story. While Johnny Storm’s introduction could make Angel’s introduction somewhat shaky, she would certainly be a great choice for the film, as well as Sink’s capabilities.
