RTE have made some major changes to the bank holiday weekend’s schedule.
The national station will be celebrating all things Irish while showcasing the very best of Irish sport, entertainment and live coverage for St Patrick’s Day.


The festivities will be kicking off tonight with part one of Catherine Fulvio’s St Patrick’s Way airing at 8pm on RTE One.
Viewers can watch the TV chef embark on a soulful journey along along The Pilgrim Walk, a 132-kilometer trail through Armagh and onward to the beautiful coastal landscape of County Down.
Part two of the documentary will be shown on RTE One on Friday at 8pm.
At 7pm on Friday, Nationwide will focus on song, dance and the Irish language.
Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh presents as the team are in Donegal meeting enthusiastic lovers of Irish dancing while in Belfast, reporter Niall Martin visits a part of the city where locals are learning Irish.
Later on that night, Patrick Kielty will be hosting a celebration of Irish legends and heroes on the Late Late Show at 9.35pm.
Patrick will welcome the Republic of Ireland squad that qualified for the Italia 90 World Cup, coming together on Irish television for the first time in 35 years.
On Sunday on RTE One at 6.30, Kayleigh Trappe, Rhys McClenaghan, Danny O’Carroll and Jack Woolley along with their pro-dance partners will be competing for the glitterball in the final of Dancing with the Stars.
And as per usual, Hugh Wallace will be back on air for The Great House Revival at 9.30pm.
This week, he visits Rathmullan, County Donegal to oversee the restoration of a former seaside guesthouse.
On Monday, March 17, the national St Patrick’s Day Parade will be returning to the streets of Dublin at 12.15pm.
This year, Sarah McInerney, Daithi O Se, Emer O’Neill and Thomas Crosse will be reporting live in the action of the parade.
Sinead Kennedy, who hosts Today alongside Daithi, will be missing from screens on Monday as the show will not be airing.
Instead, the legendary Irish film, The Quiet Man, will be shown from 3.25pm on RTE One.

Nationwide and EastEnders will also be axed from Monday’s schedule and replaced by Patrick – A Slave to Ireland.
The epic documentary places British-born Saint Patrick in his European context and shows how Ireland’s patron saint was part of a radical Christian movement that converted not only the Irish at the edge of the earth, but also large swathes of Europe, to Christianity.
Narrated by Ciaran Hinds and Ian Hart, this documentary reveals how the Irish church St Patrick founded became a catalyst in reseeding classical learning, science and philosophy throughout Europe.
Upfront with Katie Hannon will not be on TV as See How They Run will be on from 9.30pm until 11.15pm.
And movie fans have their choice of sporting action with Invictus on Saturday night on RTE2 at 10:15pm, with those looking for some laughs with a mysterious twist.
