RTE viewers are in for a treat as the popular drama The Dry is returning on air for a third and final season.
Familiar faces including Kin stars Ciaran Hinds and Sam Keeley will be back on screens very soon.
The thrilling series first aired in 2023 and returned for a second time in May, 2024.
The Dry revolves around Shiv Sheridan, a woman recovering from alcoholism who returned home to Dublin to face a family who are not supportive of her sobriety.
The first two seasons have been streamed over 1.2 million times since its launch on RTE Player.
RTE have now revealed that they’ve commissioned the final season of the comedy-drama, in partnership with ITV.
And it looks like the Sheridans are about to face their biggest challenge yet.
A huge family secret will be revealed that throws everyone off and could upend the already fragile relationships.
Shiv also faces some hard truths and starts to realise she could be more to blame for her decisions than she thought.
The comedy drama is produced by Oscar nominated production company Element Pictures, who have worked on fan favourites such as Normal People and Poor Things, and is in association with Fís Eireann/Screen Ireland and ITV Studios.
Executive Producer, Emma Norton at Element Pictures has said: “The Dry team are all so excited to be able to give the Sheridan’s their grand finale.
“This season is going to be full of the show’s signature irreverence and pathos and we’re thrilled to be bringing our brilliant cast back together for one last blow out.”
BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Nancy Harris and director Paddy Breathnach are returning to the helm.
RTE Director of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, Dermot Horan, has said they’re “delighted” to be working on the award-winning series and added: “The first two seasons of The Dry were hugely popular with our audiences.
BACK AGAIN
“Nancy Harris has created in the Sheridan’s that most recognisable and dysfunctional of Irish families, to which we can all relate through their ups and downs.
“Paddy Breathnach will once again get the very best of the outstanding ensemble cast led by Roisin Gallagher as Shiv.”
Roisin Gallagher stars as the leading lady Shiv Sheridan.
Kin star Ciaran Hinds plays Shiv’s long suffering Dublin dad, Tom Sheridan, in The Dry.
And Sam Keeley – who plays Viking in Kin – joined the show last season as Shiv’s new barista love interest Alex.
