A “POSSIBLE tornado” has been spotted whizzing close to an Irish town following the bout of good weather.
A clip showed weather phenomenon after it passed through a property in Drogheda, Co Louth leaving behind damage to a number of homes.

The “possible tornado” began strong yesterday morning with footage showing bins and debris thrown across Drogheda.
It has gotten many people’s attention with the weather phenomenon reported to have left damage to a number of homes.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather shared a clip of the weather phenomenon and said: “Reports of possible tornado [yesterday] morning in Drogheda, Co Louth around 9:30am.
“I’ve now had three reports which include damage to a number of homes.
“This footage was taken after it had passed through.
“Other footage I was sent showed bins and debris thrown around which support the thinking of a tornado.”
Many took to the comments of the post to share their awe over the weather feature.
One said: “I have never experienced anything like it!! The wind all of a sudden took up…literally like a tornado!
“It blew through the house as the patio and front windows were open – blew things off the kitchen table…pulled front window off hinges and blew pots & bins over in the garden & estate.
“Only lasted probably for less than a minute but was actually really, really frightening.”
Someone else added: “We had awful damage and winds we have never experienced. Felt like a tornado! Multiple houses with severe damage.”
A third wrote: “We had a wicked heavy thundery downpour and a wild wind around 6am the morning. I’m at east Clare, it was short but very intense, that damage is insane.”
UNSETTLED WEATHER
Other footage shared by Ireland’s Weather Channel on social media has shown “plenty of hail” hitting Ireland, with one saying: “It’s great to get a break from all the very hot weather.”
Met Eireann‘s Matthew Martin said the weather has now turned “quite unsettled” due to low pressure in the Atlantic which has moved closer to Ireland.
He continued: “That’s feeding in bands of rain and showers.
“It’s going to be a generally cloudy and wet start today with outbreaks of rain and a few thundery downpours are possible.
“Drier and brighter weather though will extend eastwards to many areas today.
“But there will be a few showers in the mix as well and parts of the southwest may stay cloudy and rather showery today.”
Highs of 16C to 20C are expected today in moderate to fresh western breezes.
Many parts of the country will be dry tonight with clear spells, but areas of mist and fog are going to develop, especially across Connacht and West Ulster.
OUTBREAKS OF RAIN
Outbreaks of rain will then spread across southwestern counties on Wednesday morning.
Matthew added: “It’s going to stay largely dry elsewhere with sunny spells, but cloud will increase during the afternoon and towards evening with some patchy rain spreading from the southwest.
“Highest temperatures of 17C to 22C tomorrow in a moderate southeast winds.
“There’ll be cloudy and damp on Thursday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, but drier and brighter weather will spread slowly across western areas during the afternoon on Thursday.”
Weather boffins said the weather looks set to stay “rather damp” further east until Thursday evening.
Highest temperatures of 18C to 23Cin moderate to fresh southwest winds.
They added: “Friday looks like one of the better days. It looks set to be a bright day with sunny spells and just well, scattered showers.
“Looking ahead towards the weekend, the mixed day is forecast on Saturday with widespread showers along with some spells of sunshine.
“And early indications suggest that Sunday will be a bright day with sunny spells and just, well, scattered showers.”
