Images show the classic Jaguar in a opalescent dark green finish with a front grille with a vertical bar, side indicators on the front wings, and a chrome strip along the side and Dinax Classic Radar tyres .
It has the original suede green leather interior with burr walnut veneer dashboard and window surrounds.
Original door cards, carpets and mats are also a feature.
The Jaguar 420G boasts just 35,000 miles on the clock and has been upgraded with a high torque new start motor from SNG Barratts, a stainless steel exhaust, and Evans waterless coolant.
It has also been fitted with electronic ignition and comes with extensive history and provenance, adding to its desirability for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Unveiled at the London Motor Show in October 1966, the Jaguar 420G was a continuation of the Mark X model, produced between 1961 and 1966.
Mechanically, the 420G with the ‘G’ standing for ‘Grand’ was virtually identical to the Mark X, retaining the XK inline-six engine, which expanded to a 4.2-litre capacity from 1966.
One notable fact about the enormous Mark X/420G is that it was the largest car Jaguar built in the 20th century, with only the X350 XJ from 2003-2009 approaching its impressive proportions in the 21st century.
The car is heading under the hammer with Bonhams who called it a “joy to behold”.
The listing added that it is “possibly the best 420G in the UK, simply outstanding”.
Referring to the car’s restoration, the auction house called it the most “comprehensive, detailed and exhaustive” it had ever come across.
The car’s owner, it added, is a “tenacious and gifted restorer” who has an ability to know which aspects of the restoration are best entrusted to specialists.
It appeared in the 1990 film The Krays, starring the Kemp brothers, Martin and Gary.
This car was supplied new by Henlys of London and is fit with a suede green leather interior and burr walnut veneers.
This comes as a unique Bentley raced by Top Gear‘s Matt LeBlanc is set to go under the hammer in the UK.
The 1988 Turbo R was never designed for racing – but it was given a serious makeover for the show.
The Bentley faced mechanical issues that required a full engine overhaul, and the trio ended up finishing 69th out of 70.
In fact, LeBlanc revealed that it needed a complete overhaul: “New block, new crank, new pistons, new con-rods, new valves, new cams, new water pump, new oil pump—basically everything was replaced.”
The Turbo R has since covered almost 108,000 miles and changed hands 13 times, with its most recent owner certainly not enjoying the luck they’d hoped for.
Now, it’s being offered for auction with no reserve.
