Hills and McGheehan, who is married to Made in Chelsea star Tiffany Watson, clashed after colliding heads with each other while duelling in the air for a loose ball.
Neither were happy as Hills, 21, came off the worst with a bloodied dome.
He and McGeehan, 30, both received treatment from medics as the game came to a halt.
But a furious shoving match then ensued as the rivals came close to blows.
Hills and McGeehan were quickly separated to prevent the scrap from becoming an all-out brawl.
And fans didn’t waste any time reacting to the battle on social media.
One said: “Blood in the most irrelevant friendly in history.”

Hills will be hoping his behaviour does not impact his hopes of becoming a first-team at Norwich.
Having come up through the academy, the ace is hoping to add to his five appearances following loans at Accrington Stanley and Stockport County.
As for McGeehan, he is entering his second season with Northampton after spells at Luton, Barnsley and Colchester United.
He too came through the ranks at Norwich but failed to make a senior appearance for them before leaving in 2015.
McGeehan met TV star partner Tiffany during the Covid lockdown, with the pair getting engaged in 2021 and marrying a year later.
They share two children together in Jude, 2, and Heath, who was born last month.
