North West’s music career seems to have its biggest obstacle in her father, Kanye West. The rapper recently went off on X (formerly Twitter) about not allowing his daughter to be featured on Playboi Carti’s album after the I Am Music rapper asked Kim Kardashian for North’s vocal recording. Ye addressed his absence from Carti’s latest album too.
Playboi Carti released his third studio album after a four-year delay to positive responses. Featuring prominent artists like Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and Lil Uzi Vert, the album reportedly dropped Ye’s feature. The Graduation rapper and producer criticized the album and posted lengthy opinions on X.
Kanye West calls out Playboi Carti for asking for North West’s vocals for his album
Kanye West is at it again with the X posts. The rapper has been posting a barrage of posts on social media after the release of Playboi Carti’s I Am Music. The Timeless singer released his studio album more than four years after his predecessor and has been hyping it up for years. Despite plenty of star features, Ye was missing from the album.
The Hurricane rapper has been vocal about his feature being dropped by the label after his controversial tweets over the past few weeks. Now, the rapper has brought his daughter North West to this battle against Carti. The latter reportedly asked North’s mother Kim Kardashian for her vocals after the model posted his song on her stories.
West did not take this request kindly. Carti called North his niece and asked Kardashian for her vocals which seemed to have irked Ye. He called out Carti for removing his feature and forbade North’s vocals from being used in his songs. He posted,
While Ye has been posting non-stop about I Am Music, calling out Kendrick Lamar for featuring on the album, the album seems to be breaking records. Carti’s third album is reportedly the most-streamed album on Spotify in 2025.
Kanye West canceled the collaborative album with Playboi Carti after the I Am Music snub
Kanye West was reportedly supposed to feature on the song Backd00r from Playboi Carti’s I Am Music album and even co-produced it, but was promptly dropped in the final release. West has continued his antisemitic rant and blamed the label for forcing Carti to drop him from the album. He also did not like that Carti asked for his daughter’s vocals.
Now, West revealed that he was working on a collab album with Playboi Carti but after being dropped by him in his latest, he will not be going forward with it. He tweeted (via HipHop DX),
We were working on Project Carti Ye I’m sorry it won’t happen now. From Carti’s actual twin…Carti ain’t do nothing wrong….They made Ty write the words HATE SPEECH. And it’s the same thing they did with Trav.
Ye also said that he was supposed to feature on Travis Scott’s Utopia and also spoke about Ty Dolla Sign’s recent story about not condoning hate speech.
