Marvel Rivals has taken over the world with its over-the-top gameplay and special appeal to Marvel superheroes. The title developed by NetEase Games has been one of the best in the hero shooter genre, and according to SteamDB, more than 150,000 players are playing it right now.

Marvel Rivals have recently released their patch notes, and one character in the game probably got the better end of the stick. Of course, we are talking about the adamantium-clawed raging animal, Wolverine. Let’s delve deeper into how Wolverine has been tweaked and how it might make Wolverine overpowered.

Marvel Rivals is currently the best hero shooter game in the entire world, and it is all because of the hype behind its heroes. The game features all the characters from the famous comic book universe Marvel, and with special emphasis on the gameplay and the hero skins, Rivals was bound to be the best when it was released.

The game features a plethora of Marvel characters, from Spiderman to Doctor Strange, who all have their own strengths and weaknesses, but only one character has kind of been overlooked by NetEase, and that is Wolverine. Who is kind of treated unfairly in the game.

Although Wolverine has always been the absolute best pick to destroy tanks, his whole kit focuses on percentage-based damage. Which in lamer terms means, that in the game the more health the enemy has, the more damage Wolverine will deal to his enemies. While this may sound like a good deal to many, it just does not work that well in real-life scenarios where there are other heroes and support players behind the enemy tank.

We are not saying that Wolverine is a bad pick, it’s just that the character is good purely based on the skill and strategy of the player. According to Marvel Rivals’ recent version patch notes, Wolverine’s ultimate ability has been tweaked a bit, making the attack more hitscan than projectile. Seeing how enemies cannot even escape from this ultimate ability at all, this might change the entire gameplay style of Wolverine.

NetEase Games’ decision might have shifted the meta of the game

Wolverine’s ultimate ability in the game, which is appropriately called Last Stand, has now become more powerful than ever. The ultimate ability sweeps up enemies around Wolverine, making them and himself airborne, and then landing a devastating blow that deals a huge amount of damage. The last crushing charge was a projectile before the recent update, but now Wolverine will be able to deal damage in the specified area much faster now.

With this update, NetEase has essentially turned Wolverine into a walking nightmare for his enemies. By making Last Stand a hitscan ability, they’ve removed the small window of opportunity for opponents, who previously had some time to react, ensuring that Wolverine players can now secure kills with much greater ease. This recent change not only makes him significantly stronger but also shifts the entire game’s paradigm in his favor, allowing skilled players to capitalize on guaranteed damage.

If left unchecked, Wolverine could become one of the most oppressive heroes in Marvel Rivals, turning every match into a slaughterhouse where free kills are just a leap and a slash away.
