One Piece is a series full of mysteries with fans who believe they might be Sherlock Holmes. Coming up with theories almost every day is like their side gig. They take them very seriously, no matter how far-fetched or out-of-character.
The physical similarities between Dracule Mihawk, Silvers Rayleigh, and Shakuyaku have caught their attention for a while. Fans are still convinced the swordsman could be the hidden son of the couple.

Considering Shakuyaku’s heritage, giving birth to a son wouldn’t be accurate to the lore of One Piece. The Kuja Clan, who are all women, canonically only give birth to females.
Because of this fact, some One Piece fans have theorized that Mihawk could’ve changed his gender. They maintain that he’s still their son, but somehow met Ivankov and decided to transition.
Mihawk transitioned for some reason and became the first Kuja son
The idea that the couple gave birth to a great swordsman isn’t impossible. Shakuyaku and Dracula Mihawk do share the same air of mystery and allure that draws you in. Rayleigh’s swordsmanship might explain why the lone pirate is so brilliant.
The swordsman has the same grooming patterns as his alleged parents and wears peony patterns. Shakuyaku in Japanese means peony so of course, fans have taken this as foreshadowing.
This theory relies on the assumption that Mihawk somehow met Ivankov. There’s no evidence they have met, unlike Crocodile who was confirmed to have encountered him and has a secret he doesn’t want exposed. Mihawk has none of that, but then again we barely know much about him to begin with.

They took it to another level and called him Luffy’s mother, explaining that that’s why Rayleigh agreed to teach him.

This Reddit user, however, forgets that Mihawk was at Roger’s execution with his full appearance displayed. Unlike how Eiichiro Oda only teased Crocodile’s attendance, we know Mihawk was there. Thus, he might be a transgender man but he definitely didn’t give birth to Luffy.
Does this make the Cross Guild an LGBTQ-led business?
Mihawk and Crocodile are both subject to the theory that Ivankov helped them transition into men. The former is more unlikely to come true but let’s humor it for a bit. The Cross Guild, founded by the two, would be an LGBTQ-led business.

They were usurped by Buggy through sheer luck and pure accident. While they were annoyed by this, it does mean one thing for the Cross Guild. The organization is led by two transgender men and a clown, making it possibly the most diverse and inclusive business in One Piece.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s debunk this. One Piece has plenty of transgender and gender-neutral characters in its roster, like Kikunojo and Bon Clay. Maybe go praise them first instead.
While Mihawk being a transgender man is interesting, it’s just unlikely. All of this is under the assumption that he’s Rayleigh and Shakky’s son and that he met Ivankov. He doesn’t have any hints suggesting that he transitioned, unlike Crocodile who was blackmailed by the Revolutionary Army founder.
