‘Matlock’ Shares Sneak Peek of Upcoming Episode 10 and Juicy Plot Involving Matty and Sarah

The plot for the next episode of Matlock has been revealed, and fans should buckle up. CBS released the synopsis as well as photos from the upcoming Thursday, February 6, episode, titled “Crash Helmets On.”

“Matty and Sarah pose as grandmother and granddaughter in order to gather information at a senior living facility facing a wrongful death suit,” the synopsis of season 1, episode 10, says.

In addition to the photos and synopsis, CBS released teasers of what’s to come in the episode. In one clip, Julian accuses Olympia of stealing his client despite the firm’s “strict no poaching policy.”

In the previous episode titled “Friends,” which aired on January 30, Matty helped Olympia take on Elijah’s cousin’s wrongful termination case, while Edwin worried Matty’s big secret would be exposed if she continued to work at Jacobson Moore.

Fans have been loving the revival of the series, which stars Kathy Bates, Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio and Leah Lewis.

Kathy, 76, never imagined she would be leading a TV series with an all-star cast in her 70s.

“To have this at the end of my career is an incredible gift. I never dreamed I would have a third act like this,” she told TV Insider of playing Matty Matlock in August 2024. “I’ve never thought at my age I’d be playing such a wonderful role and for network, which so many people are going to see. She uses her lifetime of experience and wisdom to really connect with people, instead of Googling everything, and that helps her solve cases. She doesn’t live her life through a screen. She lives it looking into people’s eyes and having real relationships.”

The Academy Award winner was also asked how many seasons she envisions for the legal drama.

“I’d say maybe five. We’ll see how long God gives me,” she reflected. “I wish my mother was still alive to see it. She was born in 1907. I don’t even think she had her own bank account at one point. Women were expected to be secretaries and divorce was a no-no. It’s great that women are leaders of countries and in high places. I love seeing that reflected in a television series.”

In October 2024, Matlock was renewed for season 2 just before the show aired its third episode on CBS.

“This reconceived Matlock was devised by Jennie Snyder Urman with a brilliant surprise plot twist, and we knew we had something very special the moment we saw the first episode brought to life by the incredibly talented Kathy Bates,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement at the time. “The audience reception and critical acclaim for it has been overwhelming. We can’t wait to get started on a second season.”

Matlock airs on Thursday nights on CBS at 9 p.m. ET and is streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs.)
