Mark Consuelos Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction on ‘Live’ as Fans Notice Open Zipper: ‘My Fly Was Down’

Awkward! Mark Consuelos suffered a wardrobe malfunction during the latest episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, as viewers noticed that the talk show host’s pants zipper was down for several minutes.

Mark, 53, revealed the clothing mishap to his cohost-slash-wife, Kelly Ripa, moments before the couple transitioned to their “Stump Mark” segment during the Wednesday, March 12, episode of the talk show. “My zipper’s down!” the Riverdale alum shouted.

Kelly, 54, then looked down at her husband’s lap and asked if anyone had “noticed” the open zipper, but Mark said he was the first person to see it. Unfortunately for the All My Children actor, this wasn’t the case at all, as proven by the fan comments read by Kelly and Mark at the end of the episode.

“I noticed Mark’s fly was open when he was speaking about Princeton,” one viewer wrote to the couple, referencing a topic Mark addressed earlier in the episode. Kelly responded to the fan, “Sometimes it’s Groundhog Day every day!”

Mark and Kelly, who tied the knot in 1996, have always been known to keep things honest on their talk show. No topic seems to be TMI! For example, back in August 2024, the pair talked about their strict “no eating before sex” rule.

“I have a very strict no eating thing before,” Kelly explained. “He knows if we go out to dinner, and I order more than a sensible salad, he’s all bummed out. He gets bummed. He’s like, ‘Are you sure you want the burger?’ I’m like, ‘I’m absolutely positive.’”

However, Kelly told the audience about a study that read, “For more pleasurable sex, you should eat first.”

“They say that soft caresses don’t feel as satisfying if you’re hungry,” she continued. “There’s a gut hormone that drives food motivation and increases [in] food intake was intrinsically linked to levels of pleasure. And so, it’s better to eat before you are intimate.”

Despite the results of the study — and much to Mark’s dismay — Kelly said that she was going to stick to her rule.

Kelly and Mark’s antics on their talk show have kept fans laughing since the Spain-born actor made his debut on Live in 2023. A source exclusively told Closer in December 2024 that their show is now the “envy of every other daytime” series.

“It’s not some giant mystery: Kelly and Mark get along as coworkers because their marriage is so solid,” the insider said. “Any of the initial skepticism around bringing Mark into the cohost role alongside Kelly has pretty much evaporated, and despite all the eulogies you hear about broadcast television these days, Live is still a highly profitable enterprise and Kelly’s fans think of her and Mark as members of their extended family.”

The source continued, “Beyond their chemistry on the show, Kelly and Mark have terrific instincts and they have carefully steered the show away from upsetting and negative topics, which is a lot trickier to do than it sounds.”

The insider concluded that the couple “also [has] a reputation for treating their staff well and not being overbearing bosses. But the good will they have created as a team, which feels a lot more authentic than any previous iteration of the show, has made them the envy of every other daytime show, especially the ones that are driven by bickering or endlessly chasing after viral moments.”
