About Mangosuthu University of Technology
Located in Umlazi, just south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, MUT is a dynamic public university of technology. Established in 1979 by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, it transitioned from Mangosuthu Technikon to a fully-fledged university in 2007.
Home to over 13,000 students annually, MUT is known for its excellent campus accommodation (90% of students are housed either on campus or in affiliated residences), industry-focused learning, and commitment to community development through Vision 2030.

Second Semester 2025 Applications Now Open
MUT is inviting new applications to start studies in July 2025 across 7 different diploma programmes in two of its most in-demand faculties. These programmes are perfect for students with NSC, NCV, or relevant international qualifications.

Entry Requirements
For NSC or Senior Certificate holders:
- English Home/First Additional Language: Level 4 (50%+)
- Mathematics or Technical Mathematics: Level 4 (50%+)
- Physical Science or Technical Science: Level 4 (50%+)
- For Mechanical Engineering only:
- Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD): Level 4 (50%+)
For NCV/TVET students:
- Relevant qualifications as per CAO guidelines
For International Applicants:
- Cambridge / GCE / IGCSE / HIGCSE results accepted
