MANCHESTER UNITED are holding up Alvaro Carreras’ move to Real Madrid.

The left-back failed to make a first-team appearance in four years at Old Trafford.

Carreras played for various United youth teams and had two loan spells – at Preston and Granada.

He then joined Benfica on loan and impressed enough for Benfica to make his stay permanent in a £7million deal.

Now Carreras is attracting interest from Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Spanish Giants have agreed a fee worth £43million with Benfica.

However United are holding up the deal as they have a buy back clause.

The Red Devils need to confirm their intention not to trigger that clause.

Meanwhile, United are also linked with Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The versatile Los Blancos ace has been linked with a move to England for some time, having won the Champions League and LaLiga in 2024.

Now, according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, Madrid have turned down United’s surprise move for the 25-year-old.

Midfielder Christian Eriksen left the club this summer at the end of his contract and Tchouameni would certainly be a strong replacement.

Tchouameni has made 146 appearances for the Spanish giants since signing from Monaco in 2022 for £85.3million including add-ons.
