A MAJOR motorway has been closed following a serious six vehicle collision with motorists warned to expect massive delays.
Emergency services raced to the scene of the horror crash on the M6 earlier today, July 14.
An air ambulance attended the scene of the collision on a stretch of the motorway in Lancashire.
The crash involved six vehicles with eight people injured including two young children the ambulance service told the BBC.
The horror smash occurred between junctions 33 and 32 at Forton Services in Preston.
National Highways Traffic Officers also attended to assist with traffic management.
Drivers have been told to expect sever delays of up to two hours as the scene is dealt with.
Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being released via rearward relief.
Motorists have been asked to wait until they are instructed to move.
National Highways has asked drivers to follow the Hollow Diamond diversion route.
Drivers are asked to exit the M6 at J33 (Lancaster South) to avoid delays to their journey.
