Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are finally together again in the trailer for their highly anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday.
Lohan, 38, and Curtis, 66, delivered laughs in the film’s first official teaser, which dropped on Friday, March 14. “That’s interesting, your life lines it’s like they’ve intersected before. You’ve walked in each other’s path,” a fortune teller (played by Vanessa Bayer) ominously warns Tess (Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lohan). “You learned a lesson, a lesson that may serve you again.”
The mother-daughter duo jump up and leave at the thought of history repeating itself, only to have the premonition come true — but with a twist. This time around, Anna’s daughter and her British friend also swap bodies with the elder Coleman ladies and hilarity ensues.
“My face looks like a Birkin bag that’s been left out in the sun to rot,” Curtis hilarious says while starring at her new body.

Throughout the trailer, the ladies must pretend to be one another until they can switch back, which means playing Pickelball, attending high school, driving in a convertable and having a run-in with Chad Michael Murray‘s Jake from the original movie. (Jake was Anna’s teenage crush in Freaky Friday, who eventually feel for Tess when she was in her body.)
There’s also a brief cameo from Lohan’s Parent Trap costar Elaine Hendrix, who is spotted rolling her eyes in the trailer while standing next to a giant pizza costume.
Freakier Friday — the sequel to the 2003 Disney film that saw Curtis and Lohan’s mother-daughter characters, Tess and Anna Coleman, switch bodies to hilarious effect — is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 8.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan’s ‘Freaky Friday 2’ Premiere Date Revealed
In May 2023, Curtis and Lohan celebrated the original film’s 20th anniversary and addressed rumors of an impending sequel in a joint interview with The New York Times.
“As I went around the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there was going to be another Freaky Friday,” Curtis said. “Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”
Lohan, for her part, was on board with the idea. “We’re leaving it in the hands that be,” she explained at the time. “We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”
Lindsay Lohan Through the Years
News broke in March 2024 that the sequel was officially in the works. Three months later, the actresses reunited on the set.
“The band’s back together and coming to theaters in 2025,” the Disney Studios TikTok account posted in June 2024 alongside a video of Lohan and Curtis posing beside their trailers. “The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!”
The film’s logline revealed that the sequel picks up “years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis” with their magical body swap. “Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.”
Murray, 43, and Mark Harmon were previously confirmed to be reprising their roles as Lohan’s love interest, Jake, and Curtis’ partner, Ryan, respectively. Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao are also returning for the sequel. New cast members include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

Curtis added, “It feels like picking up where we left off, which is really beautiful.”
