Kelly Clarkson Will Resume Filming Her Talk Show After Several Absences

Kelly Clarkson is expected to return to her eponymous talk show after a handful of unexplained absences.

The Grammy winner, 42, will reportedly resume filming The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, March 13, according to multiple outlets. Clarkson’s recent slew of absences began on March 3, with Simu Liu filling in as a guest host. Clarkson was back in the hosting chair two days later before taking another hiatus, with celebs including Roy Wood Jr., Wanda Sykes, Brooke Shields and Willie Geist taking over her duties.

Though Clarkson will resume filming on Thursday, Molly Sims will reportedly round out the rest of the week as the show’s host on Thursday and Friday, March 14, as the episodes have already been filmed. Thursday’s guest lineup will include Patrick Schwarzenegger and Bryan Greenberg, while Amanda Seyfried, Nicholas Pinnock and Sir Woman will appear on Friday’s episode.

Clarkson’s ongoing absence is reportedly due to a personal matter. In addition to her talk show, the singer has also been busy preparing for her upcoming Las Vegas residency, which will run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from July 4 through November 15. Currently in its sixth season, Clarkson launched her daytime talk show in 2019. The show was renewed for a seventh season, which will air during the 2025-2026 TV season, back in December 2024.

“Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure. We couldn’t wait to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fresh off the top-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center in which Kelly hosted,” Tracie Wilson, executive vice president of Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, told multiple outlets in a statement at the time. “There’s an appetite in talk for stories that entertain and inspire, and The Kelly Clarkson Show is a shining star that delivers for our stations and connects with viewers across multiple generations in meaningful ways.”

Over the years, Clarkson has gone viral for her candid celebrity conversations and her famous “Kellyoke” song covers. Clarkson has also turned her show into a family affair by having her daughter, River, 10, and son, Remy, 8, join her on the show. Remy, for his part, surprised viewers with his impressive vocal chops while performing a cover of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” before a November 2024 episode taping.

“How did you feel about the clip going viral? Remember when I came and I told you, I was like, ‘Everybody’s loving your video,’” Clarkson asked her son on the January 8 episode of the show. Remy made his mother laugh by cheekily replying, “Yeah, how much views did I get again?”

Clarkson jokingly added, “I said, ‘Man, buddy. You’ve got, like, over a million views on your [cover].’ And he goes, ‘Do you get that many views?’ I was like, ‘Calm down, and not often.’”

River also inherited Clarkson’s musical talents, as she opened up about her love of singing and songwriting during the January episode. “I like to write and like to sing, so I put that together in a journal that I forgot at home ’cause I am a forgetter,” she shared. “But I do that a lot in my room, and I spend hours and hours and hours trying to do a song.”
