KATE O’Connor has claimed Ireland’s first World Indoor Championships medal since 2006 with a silver in the pentathlon.
Fresh off winning European Indoor bronze earlier this month, she posted three personal bests across her five events.

In doing so she became the first Irish athlete to medal on this global stage since Derval O’Rourke took gold in Moscow 19 years ago.
The 24-year-old put on a career-best performance in the 60m hurdles, shot put and long jump.
