Kaizer Chiefs take on Ghanaian giants in 2025 Toyota Cup

Mark Saturday 26 July 2025 in your diaries for the much-anticipated Toyota Cup clash. In this year’s iteration, the Toyota Cup heads to Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium for a heavyweight showdown between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Ghanaian juggernaut Asante Kotoko SC.

As such, the Toyota Cup fixture brings together two African clubs with proud legacies and passionate fanbases. The first-ever Toyota Cup took place last year (2024) between Kaizer Chiefs and Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC. Bloemfontein Stadium was sold out and showcased the enduring enthusiasm for cross-continental club clashes.

Asante Kotoko SC is one of Africa’s most decorated clubs with 50 official trophies, including two CAF Champions League titles. Better still, the SABC is on board to televise the highly anticipated 2025 Toyota Cup to supporters all across the continent.

“We’re honoured to welcome our friends from Ghana to South African soil this month. The 2025 Toyota Cup allows Africa to unite through football and celebrate a shared legacy. We chose Durban not only because it is the manufacturing hub of Toyota South Africa, but because it’s the perfect place to write the next chapter for Kaizer Chiefs,” says the club’s Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung.

Besides the main event, there will be a music concert starting at 10h00. Then there will be a curtain-raiser game between the Kaizer Chiefs Legends and Zulu Kingdom Legends at 12h00. You can see the likes of Doctor Khumalo, Sibusiso Zuma, Jabu Mahlangu, Delron Buckley and more on the pitch again.
