JUST Stop Oil activists stormed a West End stage while film star Sigourney Weaver was performing as the theatre show descended into mayhem.
Chaos unfolded at a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London at around 8pm on Mondaay.
Activists unfurled an orange banner after Hollywood star Sigourney Weaver had delivered the line “come forth”, which had prompted another character to emerge from the floor.
The pair launched a confetti cannon while a voice said: “We’ll have to stop the show ladies and gentlemen, sorry.”
The audience began shouting “get them off” alongside boos and whistles, with Weaver being escorted off the stage from her chair.
Social media has erupted with people criticising the protestors actions, with one saying: “Disrupting art and a performance is not cool”.
Another said “bloody idiots” while a third added “people are sick to death of you, all you are doing is alienating people”.
