John Cena Lied About “You Can’t See Me Jokes” But Kurt Angle Was Genuinely Offended With the Perc Angle Memes

Kurt Angle is happy that fans have chosen a new moniker for him instead of “Perc Angle.”

Angle has been called “Perc Angle” by admirers over the years. The moniker has been used in jest, particularly when discussing Angle’s time in TNA when he moonsaulted from a cage after diving off the stage. However, considering his history of addiction, Angle has stated that the moniker has evoked unpleasant recollections. Lately, a lot of fans have chosen to use “Peak Angle” instead of “Perc Angle.”

John Cena might lie about not liking “You Can’t See Me” as an invisible joke but Perc Angle was something Angle himself experienced.

Kurt Angle’s TNA run was nicknamed “Perc Angle”

Calling Kurt Angle’s run in TNA from 2006-2015 good would be an understatement. He was at the peak of his powers. Angle was experienced and agile enough to present some of TNA’s best matches ever with AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Mr. Anderson, Abyss, Jeff Jarrett, etc.

The nickname, “Perc Angle” caught on because while he was at his wrestling peak, Angle was going through severe addiction issues. Fans referred to Kurt Angle as “Perc Angle” for years because of the drugs he used when competing in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, to which he acknowledged having an addiction.

Thankfully, he has recovered from those addictions and wants to keep those demons behind him. Angle has expressed disapproval before over the “Perc Angle” nickname. He has always stated that it reminded him of his darker days(even though he understood that fans used it as a term of endearment).

Fans responded to this in kind. They dropped the ‘Perc Angle’ nickname and instead adopted ‘Peak Angle’. Angle, in a recent interview, thanked the fans for this:

“Thank you so much. I was really pleasantly surprised that they responded that way. It makes me know that I have true fans out there that really enjoyed my career and loved me for what I did. I’m just grateful that they’re going to drop the name Perk Angle. It reminds me of a dark time in my life, and it’s something that I don’t want to have to deal with it anymore. I dealt with it already, and it’s behind me. Hearing Perc Angle just makes me think I’m known for that. It was not cool. I’m just glad that they’re now using Peak Angle, instead I’m very grateful for that”.

This has proven that Angle has touched hearts everywhere as a wrestler. He was always entertaining whenever he was on screen and that has translated to respect and love from wrestling fans all over the world.

Kurt Angle was Mark Henry’s toughest opponent

Kurt Angle is the hardest opponent that WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has ever faced.

Although Angle defeated the terrifying Mark Henry to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the 2006 Royal Rumble, the famous pair did not frequently face off during their time with the WWE.

Angle has shown himself as a truly tough person who could compete against any WWE Superstar both inside and outside of the ring after fighting his way to gold at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, despite suffering a fractured neck.

Henry said(in a Q&A):

Kurt Angle was pretty tough. Like, I had big guys, I had guys that could hit really hard. But Kurt Angle was just so good, you could do everything right and still not be able to do what you wanted to do against him.

Angle is indeed a wrestling machine. He is funny and dangerous at the same time. Kurt Angle is indeed one of a kind.
