Joe Gqabi District Municipality invites South African unemployed individuals residing in the district to apply for Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) opportunities in plumbing and water meter installation for 2025.

Location: Various towns across Joe Gqabi District Municipality, Eastern Cape, South Africa
Stipend:
- Skilled Plumbers: R10 830 per month
- Semi-Skilled Meter Installers: R6 498 per month
Contract Duration: 24 Months (Fixed-term EPWP Contract)

1. Skilled Plumbers

Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in plumbing maintenance and infrastructure repairs
- Knowledge of water and sanitation systems (advantageous)
- Code B (or higher) driver’s license
- Physically fit and able to work under pressure
Duties:
- Install, maintain, and repair water connections
- Inspect plumbing systems and ensure compliance
- Detect and fix leaks and meter tampering
- Ensure adherence to municipal standards
2. Semi-Skilled Meter Installers

- Experience in water meter installation/plumbing
- Knowledge of water systems and basic plumbing
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors
Duties:
- Install and replace water meters
- Assist in leak detection and meter reporting
- Ensure compliance with meter installation guidelines
- Support municipal plumbing teams
