Jeannie Mai and her daughter Monaco are the cutest duo out there, showing fans their different adventures both inside the house and in the world. Most recently, they shared an adorable video that shows how Monaco is obsessed with the common influencer practice of unboxing for the camera!
On March 15, Mai shared the most darling, ASMR-like video of her and Monaco unboxing a gift box. She shared the video with the caption reading, “Life moves so fast, we forget that joy isn’t something we chase—it’s something we notice. The tiniest moments hold the biggest weight: like realizing my kid is frkn obsessed with unboxing and gets to all my mail b4 I do 😩😝.”
She added, “Becoming a mother has reminded me that joy isn’t rare, it’s everywhere—we just have to slow down enough to feel it. And that’s exactly what my beautiful friend @scperot captures in her incredible book, Styles of Joy. It’s a powerful reminder that even in life’s hardest seasons, joy finds a way to reach us. So in the video, Mai and Monaco are whispering throughout the entire time, making it an ASMR-like video. (ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a tingling sensation you get from certain sounds or sights, with whispering being an extremely common trigger!)
But back to the video itself: we see them on the couch, excitedly about to open a big box. While Monaco wants to play with all the little toys inside, Mai gives a gentle parenting moment by telling her they have to read the handwritten note they received first. Monaco holds the letter but tries to go back to opening the box, giving her mom some adorable sass.
It’s super-clear that Monaco wants to get on with the unboxing, but Mai is making sure they read all the letters and notes they got. And then, in a truly unexpected move, Monaco tries to bite off the microphone in Mai’s hands!
But then they get into the box itself with little trinkets, paper, and the book itself: Styles of Joy by SC Perot. And in the last few seconds, we see Monaco hold the book, repeating the name and jumping on the couch. Talk about a cuteness overload, and talk about a lil influencer in the making because it’s so clear that Monaco adores all things unboxing.
For those who don’t know, back in Jan. 2022, Mai and her ex-husband Jeezy welcomed their daughter Monaco Mai-Jenkins into the world.
During a Nov 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Mai said, “I used to be, well, I still am a boss, I can get it done by myself, but I ain’t that bossy by myself as a mom, I need help.”
She added, “I need my mom giving me advice, I need all the other moms around this area to tell me what you do with a 10-month-old. Every other week there’s some new thing that comes up with her that I got to ask and check about and I call, I listen to my friends and my pediatrician before I listen to the internet or Google. So, I’ve learned that you really need that village.”
