IRELAND AM hosts Muireann O’Connell and Alan Hughes were left in stitches after a viewer’s response to Ryanair’s new drink ban.
The hit breakfast show was back on screens this morning to discuss a variety of news trending topics with guests.
Popular presenters Muireann and Alan took to Instagram during a break on the show today to discuss Ryanair‘s new potential alcohol limit.
The airline recently called for a two-drink limit for passengers at airports to prevent violent behaviour on flights.
CEO of Ryanair Michael O’Leary suggested that a restriction on alcohol prior to boarding the plane could combat the growing number of in-flight assaults.
As the topic was raised on today’s Ireland AM show, Muireann and Alan decided to share a clip of themselves reading out some of the viewers reactions.
In the short video, Alan remarked: “Our viewers are very vexed about this.”
He then read out an email from one fan, Emily, that said: “I don’t think there should be a limit. The whole experience of the airport pints is the first part of your holiday.
“There’s nothing better than sitting out on a sunny morning in terminal one smoking area with your sunglasses on and a drink in hand.
“Surrounded by people all excited for their trip. It’s the best and happiest place on earth.”
Muireann jokingly started pretending to smoke with her hand, while Alan laughed: “Jesus I wouldn’t know, I don’t smoke Emily.”
Alan hysterically added: “But she loves the smoking area.”
Muireann chuckled: “Hey, you do you Emily.”
The Limerick lady humorously captioned her post: “I wanna go on holidays with Emily!
“Ryanair want a two drink maximum in the airport before people get on the flight. What do you think?”
Of course, fans all raced to the comment section to share their opinion on the proposed drink ban.

Majella wrote: “I think it’s best to have two drinks because I have been on flights before and some people with a lot of drink in them were so loud and some people just wanted to sleep.”
Catriona said: “I don’t know how people would have time for more then two drinks.”
While Shauna joked: “I am a light weight these days so would struggle to drink my two drinks.”
And Collette remarked: “God no it’s tradition to have a holiday drink before take off..”
