Plumas District Hospital participated in Quincy High School’s Career Day on March 18th, engaging with students interested in healthcare careers. Julia Morrison, the Director of Nursing, and Nicole Stumph, an Occupational Therapist, discussed nursing careers, focusing on the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) role. They highlighted the benefits of the CNA position, which requires only an eight-week certification course offered at Feather River College, and serves as a valuable entry point into the nursing profession.
Additionally, Care Flight REMSA Paramedics Eddy Muntch and Rachel Burns conducted an interactive session where students practiced intubation on a training manikin and used a paramedic monitor to check vitals. They shared insights into emergency medicine, emphasizing the skills needed to succeed in the field. A memorable moment occurred when a teacher thanked Eddy for saving a loved one’s life, to which he responded, “This is why we do this job.”
The event underscored the hospital’s commitment to supporting and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals in the community.
