CELTIC gave themselves an uphill battle in the second half of their clash against Hibs.

David Gray’s men got off to the perfect start when they went 1-0 up through Josh Campbell inside two minutes.

And things got worse for the Hoops as the midfielder doubled his side’s tally right before half time.

THREE half time subs were made by Brendan Rodgers and it proved to be the correct call as the away side pulled one back at Easter Road.

Daizen Maeda chased a stray ball into the six yard box and slotted past Jordan Smith.

And Celtic looked to have equalised with another Maeda goal after Alistair Johnston‘s crossed ball.

But VAR chalked it off after a lengthy check after concluding that the ball had gone out of play.

The full ball was deemed to have gone over the byline before Johnston’s pass into the middle of the box.

And it cut the Hoops’ celebrations short as they continued the search for the equalising goal.

But they were unable to get it after 98 minutes as they dropped three points in the Premiership.

And Rangers could cut the gap at the top to 10 points with a win over St Mirren at Ibrox in the later kick off this weekend.

The Gers are looking for their second win on the bounce after their shock defeat to Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile the Saints are hoping to win their first game in FOUR attempts after slumping to some bad form of late.
