I’m over 40 and mixed & matched new items from Dunnes Stores for spring – with prices from €25

AN over 40s fashion fan has mixed and matched new items from Dunnes Stores – and they are perfect for spring.

Yvonne O’Connor shared a video to Instagram showing how she styled the new bits.

In the caption of the video, she noted: “Styling the trousers with a couple of different looks @dunnesstores.”

She can be seen wearing a pair of printed trousers, which are perfect for spring.

The trousers are part of a co-ord that is being sold in stores now.

The Gallery Lucia Printed Silky Co-Ord Wide Leg Trousers cost €25 and come in sizes XS to XL.

In the official item description on the website, Dunnes Stores chiefs said: “Cut from a smooth fabric that feels luxuriously soft against the skin, these Gallery trousers are designed with a trend forward wide leg and an elasticated drawstring waist for a customisable fit.

“They showcase an all-over vibrant paisley print.

“Matching blouse available; sold separately.

“Gallery is available exclusively at Dunnes Stores.”

Yvonne said: “This is the same pants paired with this gorgeous little soft dusty pink knit.”

The top has a button-up collar detail with short sleeves, making it perfect for the warmer weather.

She added: “It’s lovely and soft, and if the one on one print is too much, this softens it up nicely – or just for a different look.”

Speaking about the trousers, Yvonne explained: “What I love about the length of these trousers is while they are wide leg, they’re not sweeping the floor.

“You can wear the flat and not have them trailing.

“Such a comfortable trouser.”

MUST-HAVE DUPE

She completed the outfit by adding a pair of burgundy kitten shoes also from Dunnes Stores.

The Slingback Buckle Eyelet Shoe is available in stores and online now.

It is priced at just €25 and comes in burgundy, snakeskin and black.

The shoes are the perfect dupe for Ganni’s Buckle Ballerina pumps that can cost up to €390.

Describing the new arrivals, Dunnes said: “These stylish pointed shoes feature glossy black uppers and eyelet-studded straps with silver-tone buckles.

“Perfect for adding an edge to everyday outfits.”

FINISHING TOUCH

The shoes are perfect for spring and can be worn with everything from dresses to skirts and jeans.

They come in sizes 37 to 42.

Finally, she adds a pink coat to finish the outfit, saying: “The whole look is just – I feel so dressy in it but it’s just so comfortable.”

She then swaps the top for a short-sleeve pink blazer and white high heels.

Yvonne said: “You’re picking up the colours, this kind of elevates it a little bit and makes it just a little bit dressier.”

THE HISTORY OF DUNNES STORES

DUNNES Stores opened its first store on Patrick Street in Cork in 1944 – and it was an instant hit.

Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland’s first ‘shopping frenzy’.

During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne’s ‘Better Value’ bargains.

Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 – starting with apples and oranges.

The retailer said: “Fruit was expensive at the time and Ben Dunne yet again offered Better Value than anyone else in town.

“Over time, our food selection has grown and that spirit of good value has remained strong.

“Now we offer a wide range of carefully-sourced foods from both local Irish suppliers and overseas.”

The retailer’s first Dublin store opened its doors in 1957 on Henry Street and a super store on South Great Georges Street was unveiled in 1960.

They added: “In 1971, our first Northern Irish store opened, and many others soon followed.

“Expansion continued in the 1980s in Spain, and later into Scotland and England.”

Dunnes now has 142 stores and employs 15,000 people.
